Would you rather buy a car with all season or summer performance tyres?

Going to sell my Celica GTS. I live in a winter climate. Never drove the car past November and no earlier that May (until the city sweeps the streets of winter gravel). So I have always had summer performance tires.

It now needs new tires. It only has three tires on which you can drive and they are down to 4/32 thread or less. The fourth tire is toast (damaged sidewall).

I was going to get a set of new tires for the sale to help increase my chances of selling the car.

As an average car buyer (not as a track enthusiast) would you prefer to buy a car with all-season tires or performance tires, if you lived in a winter climate.

Would depend on the type of Car I'm buying... If I can afford to buy a Z in said climate, I would bite the bullet and get a set of winter wheels/tires from Tire rack, which will be under $1500 shipped.

For a FWD or sedan style car, I'd most likely get all seasons.

Celica GTS.

For a celica I'd get all-seasons.

Chances are, you will lose money if you buy new tires. Just grab one used tire and sell the car for the price you want minus tire cost

That's another option I was thinking of.

if you do, go with new tires, i would go all season.

chrischhorn 06-13-2013 01:48 AM

Agreed, all seasons. most the people buying that car will be your average consumer and not worried about performance but probably a 1st car for a teenager and would like something safe and long lasting.

All seasons for the avg buyer!

Well it depends on the car and where you are living. For me it is summer tires all the way.

for a celica, just get all seasons. (continental DWS would be best choice).

Got slightly used all season Kumhos for $300.

guamspyd3r 06-16-2013 07:23 PM

I guess it would actually depend where you stay, out here in guam we only have two seasons (dry season and rainy season)

Where I live we have the four seasons. Early summer, summer, late summer, and next summer!
