Ok, I'm at the alignment shop to check specs before I go to the dealer and my camber and toe are way off despite being aligned on April 1st. How does this happen and still get 100% even ware? Do you think the dealer tweaked something knowing I was going to bring it back in 2 days? I had it realigned since I was within 6 mth so they honored the alignment warranty but is off about a little but I'm guessing this is because the springs are settled whereas when the alignment was done the first time the springs were just put on. When they told me the alignment was way off the RL was -1.50 and RR was -1.72. At dealer now so I'm curious to see what they say. So far, I have almost 50 reviews reporting poor tread life with an avg of 8k. I drive mostly freeway at about 100mi round trip on 1-10 Ca which means aweful roads. This is not a land yatch and I definitely don't drive it like one. I keep it about 80 mpg freeway but stomp on it quite often since I'm usually alway late. I drive this car the way it was meant to be drivin while still respecting it. Still can't justify replacing tires with mi reading this morning at 4700mi.

You have to let the springs settle before you get an alignment. Otherwise you end up in the situation you're currently in. It's not the tires fault. High performance rubber wears out quickly. You burning yours up in 4k miles is due to a bad alignment.

:ugh2:Then why did they wear even? The alignment was off too far to drive the distance I do. Couldn't wait for them to settle or I would have had uneven wear much sooner. I don't understand since I have taken the same measures with my last 2 (same Eibach springs). Aligned them right away and never touched them again until they needed new tires. I didn't even have correction arms on the Honda and 350 and got much more drive time on them.

Stock tires are definitely crap in rain.

I felt very shakey in rain and did not go very fast, felt terribly shakey.

Now that I'm on the RE-11's big difference way more stable and I'm running 305 in back, so quality tires make a huge difference

That kind of tire wear is only going to come from your toe being out or spinning the tires too much. 4000 miles is half the average life people are experiencing.

Yea I spun my stock tires a lot and still got 18k out of them. 4k is a sure sign something is way off.

Got my car back and dealer can't find 1 thing wrong with suspension or springs. I'm in no mans land now. Tires apparently don't have manufactures warranties if they come on a car ( according to Bridgestone) and dealer say they can't don't anything. This is jacked. You know when your tires need to be replaced and save accordingly so why would I have an extra $600 laying around for 2 new back tires when I just barely made my first car payment?! I'm not letting this down , someone's gonna compensate whether its the tire co or Nissan. I'm Nissan's customer so they should be taking care of it and so far I'm getting nowhere. Any thoughts? I like Hankook V12s but are there any other recommendations on affordable performance tires?

Chuck33079 05-24-2013 09:49 PM

Your alignment was off and it ate the tires. It's not the dealers fault, it's not the suspensions fault and it's not the tires. Toe destroys tires incredibly quickly.

Picks of the "even" wear?

amytorres5946 05-25-2013 01:10 PM

Chuck, can you please explain to me how my tires are wearing even with bad alignment?

Chuck33079 05-25-2013 01:24 PM

Are you saying they're wearing evenly across the tread, or both sides have even wear?

I take it you are reading this thread selectively. Most of the actual responses are giving you reasons WHY this happened. Just because people so something like you stated that you did with your previous vehicles, doesn't mean that it works with all vehicle or the one you currently own. Reading up on the cause and effect afterward is hindsight. If you choose to ignore the lesson, that is on you.

My suggestion is: do a little more research on your current vehicle, become more familiar or "one with your machine" before you bash it or complain, and don't ask questions on the forum if you are not ready to read what they write back. Oh, yeah.........welcome to the forum.

Hey Red, chill out! I never bashed the car, guess your reading selectively. Most of the people are either talking amongst themselves or giving the same ideas...all were helpful. A lot of what I have found here has been useful and furthers my knowledge about a vehicle you recommended me to RESEARCH. Only using past vehicles as reference, one being a sister car. Sorry you dont like the direction of my questions but if you don't like the thread go to another.

amytorres5946 05-26-2013 03:57 AM

Chuck: I'm saying they're wearing evenly across the thread. That's where I get stumped. Can you explain? Irregular wearing may not have been as shocking if it took longer to get this bad. If I saw camber wear and then the out of alignment readings I would be the first to admit that was, my bad. It makes sense to re-align after the springs settle and I'll remember that next time around.

Chuck33079 05-26-2013 05:04 AM

It's not camber wear. That would have taken longer than 4k miles. It's the toe that burned up your tires. It's not uneven wear you should be concerned about, it's accelerated wear. There's no point in pursuing Nissan, the dealer or the tire manufacturer. Go buy another pair of used takeoffs in the classifieds here and consider it an expensive lesson learned.

I actually came into the tread to offer suggestions until I read the other posts. All the information you need is right here. Have fun with your car.
