And here I was, about to get RE-11 in 305 in the next few weeks.

I hope a replacement comes soon - otherwise, maybe S-04 it is.

Those Z2's look like really bad tires for rain, which sucks for me since I tend to drive in rain or shine.

Really wanted those RE-11's too...

Heard very little on the Dunlop, heard from a guy from another guy that they were decent but he was going to get something else next.

I'm happy I grabbed some RE-11's off Tire Rack back in April. They were on sale and had just a few left in 265/305 sizes

I ordered S-04s because I could not find a full set of RE-11s. Right now the price is right on S-04s, about $1000 for a set!!! 265 fronts and 305 rears...

There isn't a direct compare with Re-11s and Z2 yet.

But here's a tirerack.com extreme tire with the Re-11s and Dunlop Z1 star spec (previous version of Z2):

Tire Rack Tire Test - Testing the New Extremes of Extreme Performance Summer Tires - YouTube

The Bridgestone came on top but Dunlop Z1 star spec came pretty close (correct me if I am wrong, but it was a #1 tire from previous test).

The New Dunlop Z2 is suppose to be better than Dunlop Z1 star spec (according to tirerack):

Tire Test Results : Dunlop Direzza ZII Introductory Track Drive

So I would say the Dunlop Z2 should be better or even closer to the RE-11s.

But the bottom line is, I think it's safe to say "Dunlop Z2 is better than stock in rain or shine."

RE-11's are about the bottom of the performance list these days.

I personally have found that most other performance tires have surpassed them.

:wtf2:

Not sure if serious :wtf2:

He's serious, and correct.

While the RE11 were towards the top back in '09 there are a lot of tires in this same segment that have since surpassed them.

Alstann 06-03-2013 12:20 PM

I feel like the price of the RE-11 made them a good buy as well, compared to the AD08, RS-3, or Star Spec.

Can we have some examples perhaps? I also was looking at RE-11's since i need tires very soon and i would love to hear what else preforms as good or better then the RE-11's.

tranceformer 06-03-2013 04:30 PM

+1

what are some good options other than RE-11's?

YamahaR6 06-03-2013 04:35 PM

Correct me if I am wrong:

If you are looking to compare with RE-11s which are in the "Extreme Performance Tires Category" (not much to start with) AND has sizes for the Z, search the following:

Yokohama Advan AD08
Dunlop Direzza Z2
Hankook R-S3
Nitto NT05

Not saying the above are the "only" choice of summer tires but if you are comparing with RE-11s, I would choose from the same category.

DR_ 06-03-2013 04:43 PM

^ You are correct and the Dunlop Direzza ZII and Hankook R-S3 will outperform the RE11 at an autocross or on the track.
If you aren't going to autocross or track then you shouldn't be looking at this type of tire.

YamahaR6 06-03-2013 07:37 PM

Agree ^... can't maximize the tire on the road.

But is there such thing as too much grip?

Question (strictly performance speaking):

Would a Max Performance Tire (S-04) = Extreme Performance Tire (Re-11) on the street?
