Carbon Fiber Rims

so are there any available for the z? if not what are your toughs on them?

so far i have only seen a set that HRE makes but im not sure if they can go on the z

nogoodname 07-02-2009 07:59 AM

With the right offsets, it will fit on the Z.

Modular Concepts have CF rims..... They look pretty neat.

bigaudiofanat 07-02-2009 09:37 AM

DARN AREN'T REAL ONES RELY EXPENSIVE. Like a grand each.

nogoodname 07-02-2009 09:48 AM

Even more^^

Josh@STILLEN 07-02-2009 10:38 AM

Dymag Wheels should have an application that will fit the Z. $$$ though.. DYMAG - Manufacturers of High Performance Wheels for Cars and Motorcycles

Carbon Fiber rim with a magnesium center section. Ridiculously light.. a 3 year old could pick them up.

M.Bonanni 07-02-2009 10:43 AM

There aren't many manufacturers that offer a real carbon fiber wheel like Dymag does, but there are a few that offer the carbon fiber look.

I know iForged came out with an option for their wheels to be wrapped in real carbon fiber, but it is still wrapped around aluminum so its just for looks.

nogoodname 07-02-2009 10:45 AM

Modular concepts just have CF spokes. Inserts I beleive.

And the lip can be CF also I think

Argos 07-02-2009 11:41 AM

how safe is CF in a wheel tho ??

Josh@STILLEN 07-02-2009 11:43 AM

Depends on the maker I'm sure. Dymag is used in motorsports all over the place, and are extremely reliable.

shabarivas 07-02-2009 11:52 AM

Weds had a cf wheel that weighed 6lbs for a 19''x10?

MC 07-02-2009 12:06 PM

Thats ^ 6lbs OWNAGE!!

Caravanshaka 07-02-2009 12:22 PM

2.76 kilos = 5.9 lbs

FuszNissan 07-02-2009 12:26 PM

What does it come out to $200.00 a pound

nogoodname 07-02-2009 01:24 PM

$$200 a pound in the pastry department.

shabarivas 07-02-2009 01:31 PM

No way man those weds wheels are more like 3k a wheel - so for a set of 4 = 12,000$ -> but then again all wheels together will weigh less than one of our stock ones... LOL

nogoodname 07-02-2009 01:32 PM

Money well spent. Nothing like good shoes....lol

jmlenz 07-02-2009 02:37 PM

I applaud anyone here that can spend 1/3 the price of their car on wheels!

nogoodname 07-02-2009 03:13 PM

It's another win the lotto type rims.

armensti 07-02-2009 07:14 PM

but think about it guys. rims are one of the most improtant things on the car after the tires because tires touch the ground and are the only thing conecting you to the ground and the second important thing so its money well spend. i have big plans for the z but im still in the reasearch stage. rims are the number one thing on my list tho.

6lb rims lol can you imagine how fast the car is going to be? :bowrofl:

frost 07-02-2009 07:21 PM

Hate to say it, but if I could afford those rims, I'd be in something a little pricier than the Z. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/images...scared0016.gif

just imagine the performance you would get if u did tho.

209Z 07-02-2009 10:16 PM

i say if u r going to be the cleanest Z and fastest get this car with a TT kit....ahhhhhhhh 1 day.....mmmmmmmm....I say we all go buy a lottery ticket .....righhht...NOW! GO GO GO GO =] :bowrofl:

jmlenz 07-02-2009 10:43 PM

true CF wheels + 370z just put you in used Z06, E90 M3, 996 Turbo, 997 S, etc territory...and you STILL wont match the performance.

If your gonna spend 12k+ on the Z do yourself a favor and boost it...way better bang for the buck

Dee@Amplified 08-08-2009 12:40 AM

I think CF Wheels look pretty awesome but its way over the top! It would be pretty dope to have them though!

BanningZ 08-08-2009 03:29 AM

^Agreed.

They look slick, but imagine the depreciation with fade. I would only pull them out once a year for show. I'd be to scared to track them at those prices..

Armen, I agree with you, but for the money, you will still get way more performance out of a TT or SC kit, and you don't have to be super careful about dinging or curbing your rims, repairing one of these is going to cost you a bundle.
Go with a nice set of 18lb forged alloy wheels and invest the money in engine mods.
just my 2 cents.

Endgame 08-08-2009 06:39 PM

^Agreed...

If I had a GTR Spec V... I MAY consider these wheels. That type/price range car is worthy IMO; not a Z.

OMGWTFBBQ 08-08-2009 07:22 PM

Imagine if you bought a carbon fiber wheel and one day curbed it.

:ugh2:

I'd have to shoot the first person I saw in the face.

I wonder how CF stands up to that.

Dee@Amplified 08-09-2009 04:46 AM

I'm sure the resin would crack and spider web. Instead of scratches and gashes, you'd have nasty Carbon fiber twill just dangling in the wind if you curbed it.

This is the only company I am aware of that have taken their product to market

Carbon Revolution.

Only available for Porsche and I believe the new McLaren.

Price tag is about 15-16k for the set.

GaleForce 03-13-2013 12:01 PM

15k! :icon14:

Carbon_z 03-13-2013 12:17 PM

REAL Carbon Fiber are insanely expensive. Companies offer a carbon fiber wrap over the center piece of multi piece wheels but the overall structure of the wheel is still made of steel. TRUE carbon fiber wheels have no steel at all causing them to be so much more. If anybody gets them on the Z would be a huge surprise considering the wheel set would be close to half what a used 370z goes for lol

kuriz32 03-13-2013 12:31 PM

HRE is bringing back their carbon fiber wheels (formerly they were partnered with Dymag, who made the barrels and HRE made the centers and the designs). Dymag went out of business back in late 2009/early 2010, so HRE could no longer produce the wheels.

Carbon - Coming Soon
