40th Anni wheels stolen this morning...

Well I woke up to the awesome view of my 2010 40th Anniversary Z sitting on 4 bricks. Does anyone know if Nissan still makes replacement Rays for the 40th model and how much it's going to cost me(insurance) to replace them?

Really sucks that I put on 4 new tires recently as well and will probably just get the lame stock ones back.

TheGreatOne 07-01-2012 11:58 AM

Oh crap, sorry to hear that man. Were you parked on the street or in your driveway?

I've heard they don't make replacement Rays, so you might need to check the FS section for when people unload a set, but I'm not 100% on that

NFSZ86 07-01-2012 12:06 PM

My friend went thru the same problem with the regular rays he had state farm ins, the thing is that they tried to give him some crapy wheels or after market. Reason why they didn't want to pay for the cost of the rays. So pay your dec and make sure they give you the exact wheels your car came with. My friends where the nismos so it came out to be abt 7 grand tires and rims from Nissan.

Soygen 07-01-2012 12:13 PM

The car was parked right in front of my house while I was asleep. I'm hoping Nissan can replace them, as I would be insanely upset if I can't get the same rims back. F'ing thieves suck.

Srenity 07-01-2012 12:28 PM

Sucks Man. Sounds like don't intend to get aftermarket wheels at any point and would prefer getting the 40th Ray's back on the car. Hope Nissan offers them.

If you were interested in aftermarket wheels I would get a written qoute from Nissan on factory Ray's with factory Potenza's fully installed including any labor. I would provide this to the insurance company and have them cut you a check for the replacement. Then take that check and purchase wheels of your choosing. The factory cost of the 40th Ray's will likely be higher than most high end aftermarket wheels.

Sorry for what happened to your 40th.

Call your ins agent / company and file a claim. It will fall under comprehensive claim which WILL NOT affect your insurance premium. Get an estimate from Nissan for a brand new set of 40th Ray with a set of new tires balanced & installed. Assuming you have Comprehensive coverage on your policy, your ins co should give you a check for the amount of the total estimate minus your deductible. Or the ins co could pay the dealer directly minus your deductible.

You just beat me to the punch :)

Soygen 07-01-2012 02:21 PM

Thanks, guys. I'm going to go to my local Nissan dealership tomorrow for the estimate. Waiting on Progressive to give me a call back, which will most likely be tomorrow. For now, my poor Z is just sitting on bricks. Blech!

Very sorry to hear :(

Can't add to the good advice already given

I would please encourage members to keep an out for NEW members all of a sudden posting these wheels in the classifieds on here!

Bastards!!!

iceman21_23 07-01-2012 02:58 PM

are the bricks on the sideskirts? rotors? make sure rotors and no other body damage was done.

Soygen 07-01-2012 03:28 PM

Rotors look good and 3 of the bricks are sitting on the frame safely. One of them is pushing up on the side skirt plastic and that will probably be some minor damage once I get it up. To be honest, I'm not quite sure the safest way to lift it up now. I'm guessing from the front or back? I usually jack it up from the side and put on jackstands when I change my oil, but lifting it up sideways now will probably cause it to slide off those bricks.

Any suggestions?

Stupid thieves!

cdoxp800 07-01-2012 04:55 PM

I found out last night that the Wheel lock key that came with my 370 Nismo, fits two of my friends 370z's wheel locks.

That's really assuring to know.

It will fit any 370z and likely many other Nissans. Wheel locks are not individual just designed so that somebody with standard tools can not take them off.

You definitly need to be caution when lifting it. Those blocks are not very stable in that configuration. I would try to find somthing with a more stable base to rest under the car prior to jacking it up. What ever stable base you find that fits place those in the front and jack the rear up via the rear differential housing. After you have wheels on the rear do the front.

Also it is likely to be a while before you get the new wheels so I would find something stable sooner than later those blocks look pretty iffy.

Got you.. Thanks for that info..

kenchan 07-01-2012 05:24 PM

That sucks sorry to hear. Hope ur insurance helps you out. Demand a new replacement with tpms and tires you recently bought. Send them ur tire receipt. GL! :)

cheshirecat 07-01-2012 05:37 PM

honestly, it shouldn't be too hard to track them down if they hit the market. It's not like 40th anniv. 370z stockers are common.

IMO, the thieves didn't know they were getting the limited edition wheels. It's funny also that the calipers, that are expensive as hell, are just sitting there.

OP, if I were you, I'd get the check cut and grab a set of nice aftermarket wheels from RavSpec or something. If you ever wanted to go back to the stockers, you could always grab a set from the classifieds for like 1500 or whatever.

chevytrucker 07-01-2012 08:01 PM

I just so happened I saw this while I was at work today and did some checking before I left. The factory wheels for the 40th Anniversary are $703 apiece list price with no TPMS sensors. Nissan's price on the factory Bridgestones is $1,500 exactly for a set. There are about ten of the front wheels available in the country, and a dozen or so rear wheels, so your local dealer should be able to have them within a few days.

If insurance will cut you a check, I'd say go aftermarket. You could get a nice set of aftermarket wheels and a set of tires better than stock for that money. It's your car though, and I could totally understand sticking with the factory wheels for a special edition. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Nissan has 20-25 different keys for the wheel locks. It's not like one standard tool will do it, but there is a decent chance you could find somebody pretty easily with the same key pattern.

There's actually right around 15 different wheel locks that Nissan uses for the 370... according to the dealer, anyway.

Just for reference.

864Zbeast 07-01-2012 10:08 PM

Sorry to hear :/ best of luck!

handled 07-02-2012 11:50 AM

This is the first time that I've ever seen anybody's OE wheels being stolen. I hope it all works out in the end... that sucks!

HKYStormFront 07-02-2012 12:15 PM

craigslist should be your homepage till you get them back. several members here (especially in the southeast) have been successful at getting their wheels back. don't wait tho, get your insurance to replace them. then worst case scenario, you have a track/fun set

Supremee 07-02-2012 12:25 PM

Damn people still do this? The G community gets it enough but damn. Good luck!

I have to say I agree with the Craigslist idea. Keep an eye out, you never know they just might pop up.

adidas5482 07-02-2012 12:27 PM

My dealer told me there are 6 different key patterns for the wheel locks on my car.

ANIMALS :shakes head: Hopefully, they did not do any additional damage!

I found this site awhile back. They do OEM replacement wheels and offer 370Z 18" & 19"...May have your 40th ANN. as well.

twinturbonet 07-02-2012 02:57 PM

WTS: 40th Anni Wheels!! Just got them yesterday!! lol, jk man. Sucks, I know how it feels to be "violated" in that sense. I remember some douche bags stole my TV out of my 350z. It sucks.

I say you go with aftermarket if you can. Keep us updated on the outcome!

370Z Purist 07-03-2012 01:12 AM

I remember a member here actually had the wheels stolen off his 09. It was a while back, but since then, I've never heard of this happening. Good luck on both fronts. Maybe you'll end up with two sets in the end!

a355725 07-03-2012 10:10 AM

I hope those slime bags rot in hell.......sorry to hear about this....hopefully, you'll come out a winner here with some stellar aftermarket rims through your insurance....if that is the route you choose :)

supunna_picta 07-03-2012 10:33 AM

When you get a new set of wheels you can look for a set of locks from this company: Gorilla Automotive Products - Lug Nuts, Wheel Locks, Auto Security, Wheel Accessories they seem to have a very wide variety of outset keyed configurations. The Nissan and Toyota style of locks (the inset key) are supposedly easily pulled off by hammering a slightly small socket into the inset groove and then backing out like normal.

For lifting the car I suggest using ft long segments of 2x6 wood that are stacked up higher. Lift the car slowly and slide the wood in place of the bricks on one side to the desired height then move to the other side. This allows you to incrementally lift the car until it's safely centered on all segments of wood and to the right height.

GL on replacements and I hope the thieves get caught!
