^^ not really, lips are for looks and to extend the rim as far as possible to the fender for flush'ness.

HRE's are quite costly, nice rims though

Argos 06-14-2009 06:33 PM

go with 20's all around , personally i never liked the two diameter rims set up , looks ok on some american muscle cars not z's

Argos 06-14-2009 07:16 PM

btw HRE are awesome wheels

Argos 06-14-2009 11:38 PM

so basically if i find a wheel i like with a bolt pattern of 114.3 by 5 and in these sizes , with these size tires i should be pretty much set.... no rubbing , no tire stretching , no driving problems ... is a 25 aspect ratio for the back too low especially for everyday driving ?

travisjb 06-15-2009 12:19 AM

go bigger (wider) in front... remember this car is about 56/44 front/rear weight distribution

DannyGT 06-15-2009 09:44 AM

It wont really looked streched but your definitly going to get that rubber band look...

with 9.5 width in the front you can at least go 265 even 275!

Remember just like the stock setup you go with a lower profile in the back because the wider the tire the taller it is...I would use tire rack for this part, because they show the overall heights of the tires!

When I put the stock rear tires in the front of my car, after all was said and done they were ~5mm taller than my rears @ 305's...I went to tire rack and low and behold they had all the tire heights their and I went with what you see in my signature now, which is exactly the same height front and back.

Argos 06-15-2009 01:06 PM

yea i definitely don't want that stretched look so if i go with 10.5 width rim in the front get a 285/35/20 tire and 12 inch width rim in the back get a 305/30/20 tire i should b good to drive and it would look perfect? doesn't that throw the offset off 285x.35 =99.7 and 305x.30 = 91.5 ?

i never realized how complex this is , thanks for all your guys help , i just dont wanna spend a fortune on rims and tires only to find out , they look like crap , i really only have enuf money for one shot at this , lol.... plus im not sure trusting the vendors it most just wanna rip u off

nogoodname 06-15-2009 01:39 PM

pick some rims you like and we'll check all the offsets they have....one step at a time...lol...it's either you make it or break it..one time shot.....lol

Argos 06-15-2009 01:57 PM

how bout these asanti's, af120's in 20x12 , 20x10.5 chrome ..... u think those wud look good or too ghetto ?
Asanti Wheels AF120 (Chrome)

nogoodname 06-15-2009 02:07 PM

the chrome makes it look ghetto..... you'd have to paint or powdercoat some of it.
and it's listed as 3700 plus the painting.....try another set...lol

this is the only asanti i like

http://www.allstartire.com/p-499-asa...ter.aspx?stg=1

Argos 06-15-2009 02:18 PM

4200 each !!! holy sh*!, u have really expensive taste , i thought i was bad , lol , wud the rim fit and if so what tire size should i get with a 20x10.5 in the front and a 20x12 in the back i was thinking 285/35 and 305/30

nogoodname 06-15-2009 02:32 PM

i was assuming ur taste.............my opinion is to get DDM's used rims with tires for 2100 ....lol
those tire sizes seem ok to me

4200 for the set....btw

Argos 06-15-2009 02:40 PM

didn't notice it was for 4 , still crazy how expensive these can get , but once i put them on i wont b changing them

nogoodname 06-15-2009 02:48 PM

there's got to be some cheaper priced rims....Asanti looks like those rims on those SUV's...lol

do you want 3piece, 2 piece or light wieght monoblocks??

Argos 06-15-2009 03:01 PM

honestly i think i just might get those asanti's in chrome in a couple of weeks if i can save up the cash , i just need to know if the tire sizes and wheel sizes will match up and not be stretched

nogoodname 06-15-2009 03:12 PM

yea, buy which ones you like...that's what matters

Argos 06-15-2009 03:31 PM

Raises hand, can i join in?
Only rims i want are HRE M45

Argos 06-15-2009 06:49 PM

hre's are sick rims , they dont make a big enuf width tho, i was looking at the 590r's , what sizes were u looking at ?

the 590 r's get up to 12.5" wide, and go in half inch increments so they'd be a little easier to match wheel and tire sizes.

Personally, I think if you are going to spend that kind of cash on wheels, go with something like the volk GT-30. talk to Sharif at forged performance and he can get you the right sizes. They come in many different finishes, and are going to be stronger, lighter, and more durable for about the same amount of cash...not to mention they are beautiful:icon18:

what color is your car??

Argos 06-15-2009 09:09 PM

platinum graphite with white interior , i still have about a month to decide gotta take my boards first then ill start really shopping around , i just needed a rough guide on what i had to look for size/tire wise , before i started this thread i thought 10.5 was the max rear width i could go (like my old g35) , lol , those are nice rims btw... i couldnt find any hre dealers with bigger than 10.5 when i was searching

plasmaball: i like the love of 20's but i noticed when i got 20's on my g35 it slowed the car down a bit and did a lil worse on gas. so if ur looking strictly for looks (like me ) go with 20 , if u want a good cross between performance and looks 19's

Caravanshaka 06-15-2009 09:40 PM

I googled "HRE 590r sizes" and one of the top 2 or 3 places had 18-20 inch diameter with 9-12.5 sizes. I can't remember the exact place but it shouldn't be hard to spot if you google that phrase. Problem is they were like $1,800 each or something like that.

That finish I linked would look great with the platinum graphite, the big polished lip would really make the wheels stand out as well.

If you go chrome with 20" wheels you will likely experience what you did with your G35, a little slower response and lower gas mileage. This is because chrome wheels are HEAVY. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that those wheels were 35+lbs each. If you go with a volk monoblock wheel you are looking at low 20's in weight, which is a tiny bit lighter than the stock rays 19" from the sport package, so you won't have that issue.

But in general, yes, 20's are more for looks, 19's are a good mix of looks and performance, and 18's are great for the track.

Argos 06-15-2009 09:45 PM

yea i googled the hre's that's insane to pay 1650 a rim (that's the lowest i found)

travisjb 06-15-2009 10:03 PM

same or less for 4 forgestars

19's sound good then. thank you... What about width's and such?

Argos 06-15-2009 11:57 PM

you can go max 12 in the rear and max 11 in the front , just depends on the look u want , im gonna go 12 in the rear and 10.5 front..... im hoping these tire sizes are correct

lol those numbers are like gibberish to me....i still dont understand it.
i think 11 back and 10.5 front

I stayed with stock sizing of 9" wide up front and 10" wide out back because I won't be taking it hardcore to the track so the extra tire isn't going to help me all that much on the streets, and the extra tire costs quite a bit more over the life of the car. Once I wear the stock tires out I'm going either 255 or 265 wide in front, and 285 or 295 out back.

Plasmaball, if you find a wheel you want PM me with the wheel details and I can help you figure out widths, offsets, and tire sizes.

Argos, to be honest I think a 305 on a 12" wide wheel is going to look stretched. you will likely want a 325 on 12" wide, if you want to run 305 get 11" wide.

nogoodname 06-16-2009 08:45 AM

not bad...1400 shipped is pretty good for rims

http://www.the370z.com/tires-wheels/...d-1-piece.html for the 19"

TravisJB l inked the thread for the 18" wheels, which is what most of the people are going to use for track wheels. They will be making 20" in the near future as well.

DDmotorsports also has a used set for sale with tires for $2,100

nogoodname 06-16-2009 09:15 AM

^^ thats with track tires designed for the street

too bad gunmetal and 2 tone are out....i liked those

lol, ya something like that :nutswinger:

Was just showing what was available that is high quality but not nearly as expensive as HRE (don't get me wrong though, HRE's are damn nice)

nogoodname 06-16-2009 09:25 AM

HRE's are really nice, but one HRE rims can get you a set of rims.....
HRE's are win the lotto type rims for most of us here

Argos 06-16-2009 09:39 AM

Caravanshaka: thanks for the input , i def dont want them to look stretched so if i do go with 12 get 325 , and how does 285 sound for 10.5 ?

stock rear tire on sport package is a 275 on 10" wide, and it's definitely not stretched. 285 or 295 would be good on a 10.5, but I think 295 is more of an odd size so the 285 will be cheaper.

If you aren't doing these for performance reasons, is there any real reason you want 12" wide in the back? is it for the style of having huge rear tires? If there isn't a big reason for it I'd stick with 10 or 10.5 up front and 11 or 11.5 out back. you could do 275 or 285 on the 10, and 305 on the 11. If you are set on the 12 then by all means get the 12 and run 325 in the back. I'd also suggest looking into tires for that size and making sure the tires you want come that wide.

Argos 06-16-2009 10:04 AM

im not set on 12 , i just like the style of having a wide tire , not totally sure what im gonna go with yet , if i can find decent tires for a decent price ill get the 12 , but if tires are an outrageous amount of money ill just get the smaller 11 inch rim and do 9.5 in the front

DannyGT 06-16-2009 10:09 AM

IMHO - from the sound of things you are better off sticking with a 10.5-11 rim with a higher quality tire rather than going 12 for no reason with a crappy tire. Its really not going to visually look any different as long as you get the correct offset.

1. Set a budget
2. Buy the best in that budget.

You'll kick yourself for going with a crazy 12 inch rim and purchasing some cheap tires that cause performance issues that down the road may lead to unhappyness or worse, and accident.

Good call, honestly the tire cost is going to be the cost that ends up emptyin your wallet over time. You could buy $4,000 wheels and put $1,500 worth of tires on (expect at least that with 20's that wide), but you gotta figure every 20k miles you are going to do it again, at 60k you have spent more on tires than on wheels. Not to mention 20k on sports car tires is pretty damn good depending on how you drive :driving:

Well said. I was going to originally go with wider wheels on my setup, but then when I was looking at tires I figured I'd rather spend a little extra and get quality tires each time I need them, then go wider and end up with junk tires. I went with general exclaim UHP's on my last car, and while they are great for the money, they had way too much sidewall flex to get good responsiveness out of a Z.
