I saw another HRE and how they are made video a couple months ago, very nicely done. Unfotunately, HRE's have always been out of my budget.

Have had volks, work, etc but I don't see HRE's in my near future haha.

GaleForce 03-12-2012 11:05 AM

Looks like a post from an enthusiastic HRE wheel owner... I wouldn't consider this any more spammy than the 200 "show your" Vossen wheel threads that has one guy posting one car with every different style of wheel Vossen makes... :stirthepot:

Robert_K 03-12-2012 11:09 AM

Yeah... I'm not spamming.

No problem. More to wheels than just looks and sizing.

Build is coming along. Believe the engine is back at the shop.

Haha I just recognized your name, well I owned an EVO IX and the X, sold the X last Sept and got into a BMW 135i shortly after, but wasn't happy with it and traded that in two weeks ago for the 370z.

Good to see you on here.

Don't quote me but I believe the R40 is only available in 18" sizing. The R43 was my original choice but I wanted 19's and than I saw the P43SC. Think when I get my G37 Sedan I'm going to do the 793RS.

Robert do you happen to know the weight of the wheels?

I do not know the weight of my wheels but I believe I saw a 20x12 P40SC weight in at 22lbs. Also make note that its not the total weight of the wheel that owners need to factor in for their performance, it's the unsprung mass. The CEO of HRE explains it in more detail in the podcast.

bugzy 03-29-2012 03:40 PM

I weighted a 20x11 for a 2012 Mercedes CLS63 at 22.4 lbs.

For the Z, which has a very low offset, you will tend to see higher weights. I would estimate 19x10.5 with low offset will be in the 22 lb range. With a lot of the newer vehicles, car manufacturers have moved to high offset, which makes the wheels lighter. Z/GTR is not one of those cars :) That's why you can get those really conical profiles on the Z/GTR.

I'd like to chime in as a wheel manufacturer

after the years under HREs belt, this what we all strive to be

not to mention i'm drooling over the facility!!!

:tup: It's good to see vendors talk about their competitors with respect for one another these days.

definitely

we give credit where credit is due

thats where we strive to be in the future

any of the newer wheel companies now-a-days that makes a lot of claims and shouts alot about we're better that this company and that company, especially when they're comparing themselves to the industry leaders like BBS, OZ Racing, HRE, Rays, etc... are basically just a bunch of guys sitting in an office and over-compensating for their own tragic short comings :shakes head:

we like to follow the path of those industry leaders and just let our products do the talking for us, and we work each day to build the reputation, customer trust and cult following of those industry leaders

we do it for the love of motorsports

hats off to HRE for a great video and incredible facility
