From Tire Rack:

The load index is the tire size's assigned numerical value used to compare relative load carrying capabilities. The speed rating is a letter denoting a fixed maximum speed capability.

Load Index 102 = 1874lbs per tire
Speed rating "W" = 168 Miles per hour

Load Index 98 = 1653lbs per tire
Speed rating "W" = 168 Miles per hour

Ooh ok thanks so do you think that would that make a noticible diffrence??

Can you order without buying Costco membership? or you need member ID number to input. I'm not a member :(

You have to be a member. Want RE-11's? I just ordered mine last night.

If there's no limit per member I'll help you order a set, or I'm sure another member here who is not taking advantage of this can help.. Cossie?

I don't have Costco membership sorry, Sam's club member here. I am going with slicks this year, gonna skip on them this time.

Ditto.

There's no limit on the $70 off. But yes, load rating is a factor we MUST follow and yes it is for liability reasons. Speed rating is not really an issue for us since all of us tend to be goin for wider and sizes that are all ultra high performance anyways. Gotta remember, Costco is a very "by the book" company. Safety for members and employees is #1. Hell, tire techs aren't even allowed to put wheels back on the vehicle until the wheels and the hubs are inspected by a certified supervisor or manager. Only the supervisors and managers can torque the vehicles and tpms service packs and only the manager or supervisors can release vehicles cause we each get our own code that is registered to us.

tonybui 03-17-2012 09:18 AM

anyone know if these are in stock yet? i've been checking the costco site and 275-285 are never in stock

chrischhorn 03-17-2012 02:27 PM

Tony, its gonna be better to go into the warehouse during the week (monday-friday) and having the tire shop try to speak to a CSR agent about the tire. They will either A) give you an E.T. of when the tires will be available and be able to give you a raincheck for the coupon B) Can't give you an E.T. but can still give you a rain check C) Get lucky and they can source some out for you and get you your tires! Online has their own warehouse and shipments where as warehouses deal with Bridgestone and Michelin directly. As weird as it sounds, Costco.com is actually a different "company" then Costco itself. They have different stock, they carry some different items, and they get some their supplies from different sources. All same quality, all guaranteed, but technically a different "company".

255's have a 96 load rating, which is more than stock, can they be mounted even tho they are (slightly) wider than stock?

brucelidat 03-17-2012 04:20 PM

So since Costco won't actually mount the tires, are people going in a different car to pick them up? I can't imagine we can or want to fit 4 re-11 tires in our cars. Can we even fit 2 in our hatch? Just curious about logistics if I were to buy them.

Tonybui, I don't think re-11s come in 275 (stock) size if that's what you were referring to.

MattP725 03-17-2012 06:19 PM

Well personally the Z is not my DD. And no they won't mount 255s because they are a size other than stock... technically costco will not suggest the RE-11s as an option for the Z... you have to buy them at your own risk.

ZCarMan 03-17-2012 07:28 PM

I went to my local Costco and picked up my RE-11s today. I was refunded the tire mounting and disposal fee while I was there. Drove the Frontier up to the bay and they handed all four to me and off we went! When I asked the guy there if they could mount them with my wheels, he waved me off. Said, it would be best if you have a place with a touchless system that can do it to let them. He said they had a guy with a Bimmer bring in some special 7K wheels special ordered by Costco for him mounted and although he stood with the installer as he installed each wheel to the tire, he still found problems in the same spot on each wheel. That caused major problems between the guys there at Costco and the purchaser. I thanked him for his honesty and will be taking them to my local tuning shop that can do it.

It is possible to fit 4 but very unsafe, the one time i did it...for a very short distance... (less than .5 mile from my storage unit to the installer) i put one in the hatch and 3 in the passenger seat/arm rest. I ended up with one tire against my head since it was so far over. Needless to say i did it only out of curiosity and wont be repeating the event.... I would imagine you could fit 2 in the hatch but ill never know since i have the roll cage.
