just got all four Conti DW installed along with a 4 wheel alignment. So far so good. Only logged a couple of days driving on these. Seem to have very similar grip to potenzas and are fairly quiet. I think the dw tires are also lighter then the potenzas that come with the Z sport package.

excellent tires

Had them on for 1&1/2 years. They don't thump like originals, wear better, drive good & price was right. Discount Tires !!!

I just got the Continental ExtremeContact DW installed on my rear (285/35ZR19) today and drove a few miles on them. I hope they get better after being broken in, because right now they're scary. I got up to 90 MPH and the car started swaying back and forth a lot (like couldn't stay between the lines), and doing a quick lane change at 50 MPH caused the traction control to come on. This was with only about 5 miles on the tires, so I'm really hoping they get better when they're broken in..

any new tire... will go through that. gotta break em in.

Sometimes mis-matched sets of tires front and rear will cause those problems as well. nurseryboy, what tires do you have up front? You really need to be running a matching set.

nurseryboy 03-16-2012 04:23 PM

Good to know it's somewhat normal.

And I have the OEM's up front. Got a puncture last weekend that wasn't repairable and unfortunately I couldn't afford a whole set right now :(

m4a1mustang 03-16-2012 05:41 PM

That may very well be the culprit. Two very different conpounds front and rear, and the DW have a softer sidewall. I'd get DW for the front as soon as you can afford to.

nurseryboy 03-18-2012 04:52 PM

260 miles on the new tires so far and they're getting better. It's much easier to control and corners don't make the traction control go crazy. Although, dropping it down to 3rd when going 60+ and flooring it makes the traction control light come on, haha. I'd imagine there's still some breaking in to be done. At least I can change lanes now without the back wanting to kick out.

I'll post an update when I get over 500 miles with my thoughts on the tires, and also give my opinion on if/how different rear tires from the fronts affect it.

nurseryboy 03-27-2012 08:35 PM

Over 550 miles on the tires now, and they're riding and handling MUCH better. They have tons of grip, more in a straight line than the OEM's in my opinion. I used to be able to spin in second quite a bit, but these just give a deep 'chirp', grip, and go. Cornering is good, although different (don't mistake that for bad). They just have a different feel to them (probably in part to the higher tread and softer sidewall) and have a different breaking point. For the kind of driving I do, I like them. Good grip, responsive, and I'm learning their feel. I'm not sure if I would recommend them for on the track though.

Also, I have not noticed any adverse results to having different tires in the rear. I even drove over 30 minutes in a downpour with lots of standing water and big puddles (South Carolina for ya) and they did great. Much better than the OEM's. And, I didn't notice any issues, imbalance or loss of traction with having different tires out back.

I would have loved to be able to afford a whole set of more expensive tires. But, for the bind I was in, I'm very happy with these tires and will definitely consider getting them for the fronts too when I'm able to.

Glad that everything is working out fine with your current setup.
