Time to buy new tires
What would you guys recommend to put on my 370z roadster, dealership recommend michelin super sport pilots, not sure. Also where is the best place the purchase dealer wants 1262.00, Tirerack is cheaper but I have to pay shipping etc . I noticed some kuhmos on tirerack as well how do they perform?
Thanks |
What type of driving do you mostly do or what do you want from your tires?

I think you will find better recos and better prices from the forum members but in my opinion 1200 is a pretty good price coming from the dealership. The thing I like about that is that if they happen to f-up a wheel, they can replace it without too much argument/hassle. I need tires and I'm really nervous about who I trust to do the install. Around me Costco has some really good prices on RE-11s and other tires but I worry that the nudnicks at the shop might scratch one of the 40th wheels.

I always get my tires from tire rack, over the years, their customer service has earned my loyalty.
They have recommended installers on their site, they'll even ship the tires straight there so you can just call the shop, show up and gt the new tires put on. Luckily for us, one of the recommended installers in my area is a performance shop that we go to alot so we get our new tires shipped and put on there. As far as what tires to get, like spohn said, it depends on how/what kind of driving you do and of course, budget. Top of the line street performance tires are RE-11s, PSS's, AD08s. One step down would be PS2s. |
I have yet to hear a bad review on the Super Sports. They are well rounded tire, good in the wet and in the dry. They also have a pretty good wear rating. If you want more grip and a cheaper price check out the RS-3's from Hankook. You'll sacrifice wet grip and wear rating but they grip damn good. I hear a lot of good things about the Re-11s too, they're just priced to high for me.

Bridgestone RE-11

PPS`s are a great tire. I consider them a performance upgrade.

MICHELIN - pilot Sport Cup
I run them on my z06/370z best tire ive ever driven on, Downside i only get about 7-9000 miles out of them(back tires) I found there alot more grippy than the re11's. My personal experience. |
Apparently all the amature racers disagree with you

PSS would be a great street tire. That's what I'd go with.

However if you don't think your driving style is such to take full advantage of the performance, but you still want summer performance, you might want to consider a tire like the Continental DW (not DWS). It should cost a good bit less than the PSS but still offers good dry and wet weather performance with nice wear characteristics. |
