The new hotness from Volk! Tokyo Auto Salon content!

Just got some pics from Volk of 2 wheels that have been debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon 2012!

Up 1st is the new lightweight TE37 C1 (CONCEPT ONE). This wheel comes in at 7kg, or 15.43lbs, for 19x8.5" sizing! For reference, the TE37SL in 18" weighs 18lbs!! This is crazy. I can't wait for more info on this wheel.

Next up is the Volk G25. I don't have much info on this one, but it looks good :)

I like them both. What offsets and sizes are available? There might be a set of SL's for sale :)

djpathfinder 01-13-2012 10:38 PM

Yes, more info about the C1's please. Available colors and finishes? When are they going to be available for purchase? I wish they would do the lightening treatment on their other wheels too, like the G2 (original).

cptspeed 01-13-2012 10:42 PM

Do you guys like the te37 for the looks or the lightness? Just wondering why so many people fancy this rim.

sfearl1 01-13-2012 10:49 PM

^^ I think the te37 looks good in aggressive fitments. Other than that they're so-so. Volk in general doesn't have anything really exciting.

djpathfinder 01-13-2012 11:00 PM

The TE37 design has been out for so long...it's one of those "classic" designs. So much so, that there are several knock offs on the market too. But in an effort to make them "different" Volks has been making variants, and one angle of attack has been to make them lighter, which they did a great job with the SL's. Now, the C1's are even lighter than the SL's. I'm curious how they managed that.

Volk Z 01-13-2012 11:20 PM

For someone who cares about performance and is willing to pay for it let's compare:
Volk TE37 19 inch Concept 1- weight 15-16 pounds (9 pound weight reduction per corner)
Varstoen 2.2.2 (TE37 knockoff) 28-29 pounds 5-6 pounds heavier then stock and durability is far inferior to the Volk forged monoblock

The difference in the unsprung weight is insane, I have had 3 sets of TE/LE 37s and for some reason the simplicity of the wheel yet the concave spokes with a good sized lip looks beautiful to me....

Absolutely right! if you like the TE37 look AND care about performance, Volks is the way to go! (not the Tokyo Time Attacks...I suspect with 3 piece construction, those likely weigh quite a bit more than C1 or SL)

To me, it's a timeless design, BUT more importantly, as far as the SLs and now apparently the C1s go, they are some of the lightest and strongest wheels you can bolt up to your car.

cc370z 01-14-2012 02:34 PM

To be honest. I didn't care for the 6 spoke look at first. But I ordered my SL's anyway because of the weight. But once I got them on the car. Wow I really like them. Plus they are light weight too! So for me now it's about looks and performance :) now I want to go more aggressive.

fxroar 01-14-2012 04:02 PM

Wahh? No love for the G25? Please send a complimentary set to San Diego, CA. Thank you. :icon17:

Both.

fairladyZ34 01-14-2012 09:58 PM

They also just released the te37 Tokyo time attack right? they should have held off on this one. Releasing updated designs quicker than it takes to get them here from Japan...

djpathfinder 01-14-2012 11:05 PM

The TT covers fans of the polished deep dish 3-pc barrel look...ie, they are covering all bases.

nuTinmuch 01-14-2012 11:16 PM

The TE37 is my absolute favorite wheel for basically any car. If I could afford it, I'd have it in a heartbeat -- but I just can't justify spending that much for wheels. :(

I was in the same boat as you and my SL's are my 1st set of higher end wheels. I look at it like this: with wheels like volk, ssr, advan ect... It's more of an investment. People sell their used wheels for a little less then the price of new ones. (it helped me that Vivid racing got me great pricing! Thanks Vivid) But none the less still an investment. Out of everything on my car, including the Z, they probaly have the best depreciation rate.

Aidan 01-16-2012 12:42 PM

I prefer the SL's to the C1's

At least that's what I'm going to keep telling myself.

kenchan 01-16-2012 01:11 PM

yah, they need to come up with a new design.

Juruki 01-16-2012 01:11 PM

i love my SL's but i wouldnt mind having lighter wheels :P

Let me know how that works. Disclaimer: Not my fault if you end up on the couch :tiphat:

Not sure on that yet. I'll update this thread when I have that info.

Thanks for posting the numbers. I agree, unsprung weight is an area that can make a HUGE difference in how a car feels. Also, braking is effected dramatically by heavier wheels.

Thanks for the !!

tkuntz 01-16-2012 08:51 PM

ooo man, i want the C1's so bad, something new or even the advan gtIII's would be sick to... but nothin beats Rays.

vividracing 01-17-2012 06:34 PM

You really can't go wrong with Rays, Advan, SSR, etc. Any wheel with JWL approval is going to be strong.

Yeah I've always been a fan or "showier" wheels, but after seeing pics of member's rides with the TE37s I'm sold, they're dead sexy. If only I could afford them haha...
