How does adding Ichiba spacers allow you to run aftermarket lugs??

The reason is because the taper for the seat is different. You will damage your lug nuts and/or wheels, but the biggest problem is that the lug nut won't be fully seated and you will eventually have the wheel come off. I've seen it at the track and it's not cool. I watched a wheel come off a car that was coming out of a fast turn... The wheel rolled/bounced off the track and over a fence onto a busy public road.

TireRack has this nice image on their site that shows the differences:

I'm really glad you posted this because I was just going to spend the $ to get some aftermarket lugs. Thought to myself, you know, I better check the forum just incase there is something with the Rays; never ownerd a set. I'm so glad I did. Would have been pissed to find out the new lugs don't fit after damaging my wheels. Thanks again!

DO NOT USE AFTERMARKET LUGS ON YOUR STOCK SPORT OR BASE WHEELS

Unless you want to replace your fenders like I had to when my wheels fell off. I learned the hardway that stock wheels use mag lugs that hold the wheel on through the an outer ring. The inner ring is weak and thin and will not hold your wheel on if you only use that. Here is what it did to my rim, the lug went completely through the rim making a hole.

And here are why the mag lugs are different, they have a cone at the bottom and flat on the outside so they are very secure.

NOT looking to put these on stock rays.

But I could use some finding a reputable vendor for the rays dura lugs. I'm worried I'll end up buying fakes from the wrong guy. I can try rays directly but I'm guessing there'd going tk be a long wait.
