15mm or 20mm spacers

Hello everyone!
I am looking to get a set of spacers for my rear and wondering everyone's opinion as to which ones give a more aggressive look. All comments will be appreciated and all personal experiences and personal opinions (yes spacers, no spacers, 15, 20, etc.) would be great! Also if anyone has pictures of their babies with spacers on please post the pics as well so I can visually see them as well.
THANKS TO EVERYONE IN ADVANCE!

What kind of rims you're rocking?

sh3kki 11-28-2011 01:53 PM

oem sports

I'm in the same boat, do you have a drop?

If so, from the reasearch i've done in the wheels/suspension section, 20/20 can work all around on a mild drop. I see popular combo is 15mm front and 20mm rear. I am leaning toward 15mm front and 25mm rear on the sport wheels...dropped on TEIN

DJ-of-E 11-28-2011 02:03 PM

20s all around is very nicely flush, you could get away with 25mm in the rear.

sh3kki 11-28-2011 02:11 PM

no drop just bone stock at the moment minus gthaus exhausts. eventually i will be doing a healthy drop. do any of you guys have pictures? because i would love to see those setups that were mention with mu eyes

I am running 20mm in front / 25mm in back. No drop. No problems! I really like the look! I went Ichaba hub-centric of course! Do it!

im running 15 in the front and 20 in the back. Seems was the option of others int the past research and now that I did it im very happy with my choice. I will say this spacers does leave fender being attacked by tire shine, at least on my white z.

Same here. 15 front 20 rear. It could use another 5mm for both front and rear, but after adjusting cambers it should look quite flush.

sh3kki 11-28-2011 03:02 PM

seems to me there are alot of people who do 15 front 20 rear. so mow the question i pose is wether or not there is a perferred manufacturer

my opinion is search in the wheels/tire section.

christian370z 11-28-2011 04:21 PM

20mm all around. I am lowered on Swifts and even under the hardest conditions, I get no rubbing and no vibrations at high speeds.

20/25 on swifts on rays is pure sex!!!

marrim 11-28-2011 05:05 PM

I went with H&R TRAK+ Wheel Spacers DRSŪ Series.

There is alot of debate in DRS vs DRM. In my eyes DRM is easier to install but weighs more and is not as strong. DRS requires you to disassemble the brake system and pull the original studs.

brucelidat 11-28-2011 05:18 PM

I have 20mm all around with no drop on my stock sport wheels and it's pretty flush.

Most of the time i run a paper towel over the tire 30 minutes after to take any extra off but sometimes I forget.

:iagree:
The install isn't that more complicated, but more fun

Da.Menace 11-28-2011 05:56 PM

Just a heads up. You can't install DRM spacers for the front.

vividracing 11-28-2011 05:58 PM

I'm a big fan of the H&R spacers. On the 370, I think 20/25 looks best. If you're lowered much more than what the Swift springs do, you may rub slightly on bumps, depending on your exact height and tire sizes. 20/20 is good too, and there's pretty much no way that'll rub unless you're super low with coilovers and soft spring rates.

You can but I have seen people have to cut the original studs in the front. Messy :icon14:

Yeah... Cutting studs.. not the best thing to do -.-

sh3kki 11-28-2011 08:54 PM

is there any major difference in companies? or are all the known manufacturers pretty much equal in quality?

brucelidat 11-28-2011 09:00 PM

Dunno, I have z1 spacers. I figure as long as they're reputable and are hubcentric, they should all be fine for spacers.

hubcentric? can i ask what that means? or do i sound like the biggest noob:icon14:

happytheman 11-28-2011 09:16 PM

The Project Kics are available with or without hubcentric rings. The advantage therein is that if you get some aftermakrket wheels that don't require the spacers to be hubcentric, you can just remove the optional ring.

happytheman 11-28-2011 09:21 PM

Hubcentric rings essentially fill the gap in the center borehole of the wheel to prevent vibrations from occurring.

Edit: Found this article

Wheel Hub Centric Rings are designed to fill in the gap between the hub of the car and the center bore of the wheel. Most wheel manufacturers design their wheels with a centerbore large enough to fit on most cars. Therefore, since wheel manufactures make their center bore large enough to fit most cars, most wheel fitments have a gap between the hub and the centerbore. This gap usually doesn't allow for the wheel to fit hubcentric but rather lugcentric which causes vibration. Therefore, to fill the gap and ensure the fitment is hubcentric, hub rings are used.

Here is a spacer with the hubcentric spacer built in:

Here is a lugcentric spacer (our OEM Sport Rays require the hubcentric variety):

Wondering if the 20mm Z1's will fit the fronts (sport). Guess I'll find out when they get here :/

brucelidat 11-28-2011 09:46 PM

I have z1 20mms all around on by base sport. They come with the extended studs so that make sit trickier to install than the shorter ones.

sh3kki 11-28-2011 09:48 PM

thanks happy. that was very well explained and now i feel a whole lot less noobier and a whole lot more educated :D

how long have you had the z1 on your car and how has it worked out? any particular problems?

Can you elaborate? So you purchased the stud replacement spacers, right?

You are looking for aluminum alloy and CNC machined.

The aluminum alloy helps with strength and avoids it from fusing to either the steal rotor or the rim.

Then CNC machining is exact and balanced.

Some spacers are made from other materials and made differntly.

As for the Z1 product, I didn't buy them because they weren't on the market yet. I have not found a product that Z1 makes that wasn't of great quality. Z1's are cheaper in price than the H&R's but they seem to be made the same way and with the same materials. I still suggest the DRS for H&R or the the replacement studs from Z1.

In short

What are they made of?
How are they made?
Do they have replacement studs?
Are they HubCentric?
And What size do you want?

happytheman 11-29-2011 06:51 AM

Another question would be: If they are lugcentric, do they have optional hubcentric spacers available (like the Project Kics)?

sh3kki 11-29-2011 08:32 AM

yo marrim. you are the effin man! made things pretty clear :D

TongMan 11-30-2011 02:07 AM

Would a 5mm or 10mm spacer warrant replacing the studs or can I just put the spacer directly on the stock studs?
