It's my understanding that Nissan is being really tight-lipped about the paint code for the 40th. If you find out what it is, please post it back here so others can benefit!

kensin0429 08-15-2011 06:57 AM

will do , i damage a front wheel befor and i had sent them out to repair
and the shop refuse to do it after having the wheel for 2 days, they tell me they cant find the right color to match it and if they repaint the wheel it wont match the others.

so i bite the bullet and bought a new one from nissan. never again

i might as well fix the wheel and powder coat all of them and it whould of been cheaper

lesson learnd !

When i bought the car i got the rim insurance for $500 for five years coverage, i hit a bank curb too, but got it refinished already. It was funny cause it happened after i realized i payed all that money and was so careful and had no scratches then rub rub a dub, insurance has worked good. I did notice though that the silver color was slightly duller than the factory coating. I might be crazy but they look a little duller.

Made appointment with mobile wheel repair outfit this coming Wednesday. I asked about the process. It takes approx. two hours and goes like so:

Remove tire from vehicle
Remove tire from wheel
Grind, repair
Paint black
Paint OEM color
Paint clear coat
Bake
Paint clear coat
Bake

We'll see how it goes. I'll post pictures afterwards. Wish me luck!

Let me know how this turns out. I need to find a shop local to do this....1 hr ago I just curbed my M310 front passenger wheel on an apron I cut too close. I'm furious with myself right now, little gash in the sidewall too.

happytheman 08-21-2011 01:33 AM

Will do! And don't worry, I know EXACTLY how you feel.

Here's my damage, dropped it off for repair earlier. Guy said no worries should be good as new and only $75

happytheman 08-22-2011 09:09 PM

Yah, I see what you mean about catching the side wall. Damage isn't too bad though! Pics when you're done wit 'em.

Glokwork 08-22-2011 10:01 PM

Yep it could've been worse, it should be done tomorrow but I gotta head outta town in the am for work and not sure if I'll be staying overnight yet. Definitely will post a pic when I get her back.

The wheel is being repaired out in the parking lot where I work right now!! I went inside the trailer where Mike Collard (franchisee w/ Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists) is working shortly after he began to see the damage ground super smooth! I was so happy to see the immediate progress! Running my finger along the previously damaged portion, I couldn't even feel a hint of repair! :excited:

Will have pictures posted up tonight!

happytheman 08-24-2011 07:05 PM

Well, here's the results! I have to say this much: Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists have done a bang up job putting my wheel to rights again. Try as I might, I have not been able to see any damage whatsoever!!

For $125 I couldn't possibly be happier! Well worth the money and the two hours of my time! Kinda hard to be upset about giving your money to someone that comes to you and does such an awesome job!
:)

Let me know what you think.

That looks like my wheel after it came back from a tire repair at National Tire and Battery.

Stay away from those guys.

Hmm, not that bad! You may get away with <$100 repair! Seems like a no-brainer! :icon17:

I decided a long time ago to just park and go into the bank. ;)

I also have a habit of parking about a mile out away from everyone else in a parking lot.

happytheman 09-07-2011 06:43 AM

Yah, I won't be doing drive thrus any more. I'm fine with all other aspects of driving...even backing into parking spots while next to curbs.

Ps. I don't ever go inside...and while we're sharing..I RARELY carry cash. I use plastic for the added benefit of between 2-5% off every purchase and just pay the balance at the end of the month.

370zproject 09-08-2011 09:05 PM
