It's really difficult to take a good picture of this color for some reason.. Looks really washed out in this picture.

You obviously have never met a person that knows how to properly use a spray can. It's all about prep and the amount of time you're willing to put into the job.

I know we are talking about wheels here, but I've been toying the idea of repainting a guitar with a rattle can. Here's a few examples of how good you can get a spray painted finish (with proper prep and wetsanding)

Just saying, don't knock spray paint. Knock the kids that can't properly use it.

lol Thanks. I'd probably get shot if I showed up to the track with these. My city is full of import haters..and pink wheels would just push them over the line. I'm hoping the black turns out good. There were a lot of rough areas in the tight spots of the wheels so I'll need to sand them down before the next color

prep, painting technique, and polishing technique. i rattle can stuff a lot. recent project was my Ings+ front lip. 3 levels of wetsanding, 5coats of UV protectant, 2 levels of polishing using my random orbital. turned out factory finish.

all for $15-20 in material cost, but a lot of labor (free).

as you said, it can be done.
