call me naive, but are you really trying to compare a run in some backroad to running around a track? i think you need to drop your fast and furious dvd and try a session at the track.

Prius- go hide and cry in your little corner today. :D

Here you go, Mister Kenchan:

I just mounted them this morning so forgive their lack of tire dressing appearance. My initial impressions, after some testing in the parking lot of an abandoned business, are:

1. Significant steering feel/feedback improvement -- very crisp and much more precise

2. Quieter than stock Potenzas (maybe my imagination)

3. Very difficult to break traction (VDC off)

4. Handling is excellent

I wish I were more articulate today, but my clients ran me to mental exhaustion this week.

More later.

the prius has been to more track days than your 370, of course i am crying as i am such a track nerd. what the hell is canyon carving anyway, is it the next fast and furious term or california slang? that and the 60 to 130 run, i dont get it.

op, didnt mean to highjack the thread, i want to know how they compare to the oem tires in terms of grip level and noise.

Because canyon carving is fun. I don't know why you are acting all high and almighty just because you have the means or ability to track your car, it's not the only way to enjoy the car.

So far, they feel significantly tighter and responsive. In an empty parking lot (not public and I was not trespassing) they were highly resistant to my attempts to break traction. I like them quite a bit, but don't have much experience with them yet.

I am sure it is, just never heard of that term as it sounds lame. How much can you really carve when there are traffic on the road and stupid cops everywhere? I am not saying you need to try a track day to be good at driving, but you sure do need to have a few to know the difference between what's a good, really good and a great tire.

I was reading the description that they used the tire in the lower classes in ALMS, is it really the same tire or just similar technology.

Simple: you go very early in the morning. There are a number of extremely technical canyon roads in my area that are challenging even at the speed limit. If you don't think it is fun because it "sounds" lame, you must not have tried it.

Of course the street is not the place to go 10/10ths nor is it ideal to test a car's setup and components but I wasn't aware those were qualifications for having fun.
