op, didnt mean to highjack the thread, i want to know how they compare to the oem tires in terms of grip level and noise.

So far, they feel significantly tighter and responsive. In an empty parking lot (not public and I was not trespassing) they were highly resistant to my attempts to break traction. I like them quite a bit, but don't have much experience with them yet.

Because canyon carving is fun. I don't know why you are acting all high and almighty just because you have the means or ability to track your car, it's not the only way to enjoy the car.

I am sure it is, just never heard of that term as it sounds lame. How much can you really carve when there are traffic on the road and stupid cops everywhere? I am not saying you need to try a track day to be good at driving, but you sure do need to have a few to know the difference between what's a good, really good and a great tire.

I was reading the description that they used the tire in the lower classes in ALMS, is it really the same tire or just similar technology.

Simple: you go very early in the morning. There are a number of extremely technical canyon roads in my area that are challenging even at the speed limit. If you don't think it is fun because it "sounds" lame, you must not have tried it.

Of course the street is not the place to go 10/10ths nor is it ideal to test a car's setup and components but I wasn't aware those were qualifications for having fun.

:icon17:

cossie1600 04-17-2011 09:28 PM

I like it as much as I like gasoline.

You are being almost as cynical as Importconvert!

I never said you can't have fun, I am just saying there are things you will never know because you didn't try racing/tracking the car. It doesn't make you a bad driver (I am plenty bad), but there are things that you don't know rather you like to admit it or not.

some things :superghey:are best left unknown.

onzedge - so how do you like the tires after motoring today? :D

onzedge 04-22-2011 02:07 PM

OK -- I have 400 or so miles on them now and am highly impressed. The first couplel of days the tires were settling down and a little "bumpy". Now, they are very smooth.

Cornering is significantly improved over stock and I have driven in wet and dry. I am convinced these were the way to go.

kenchan 04-22-2011 02:15 PM

sounds good, onzedge!

supunna_picta 04-22-2011 03:10 PM

Tire break in is around 500 miles give or take, they should grip better then level out til the tread is gone.

onzedge 04-28-2011 09:47 AM

I am still liking these very much.

kenchan 04-28-2011 11:28 AM

considering they are lighter weight than the RE050A's i might seriously consider these next time around. :p

You should. I wish I could justify two sets of wheels/tires so I could alternate between the PSS and S04 PP's.

How are you liking the tires? I am probably going to get these in two weeks myself.
