Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position S-04

Maybe I am in the wrong world, $1200 for a set of tires seems like a load to me

actually the S04's are more like 1350 for the set + shipping/mounting/balance.

my DW's were considerably cheaper (probably because they are made in the USA and doesnt get hit with JPY exchange rate) $1000 + shipping/mount/balance...and in all honestly, they're not bad at all. grips like glue and comfy and quiet.

Tire choice is all about personal preference. I was looking for the best combination of dry and wet performance, and I chose the S-04s because of the wide lateral grooves that signaled potentially serious wet performance capabilities. I have not been disappointed. While I believe the Michelin's new competitor would have been better in the dry, the S-04's are far above my skill level in the dry, and are simply outstanding in the wet. Furthermore, I opted for the 285mm on the rear in place of the 275, which added over an inch of surface contact area as I measured when I received the S-04s. I might have opted for the Michelins if they were available in the same size, but have no regrets on my choice.
