from tire rack website:

The ADVAN Neova AD08 is Yokohama's Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans that have a passion for sport driving. The ADVAN Neova AD08 is designed to provide high levels of traction, responsive handling and driving control on dry and wet roads, however it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

I'd interpret that line with caution. There are MANY owners of RE-11s that claim they have the best dry grip they've ever experienced in a street tire.

Also from the Tire Rack website:
The Potenza RE-11 is an Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for enthusiastic sports car, sports coupe and performance sedan drivers. The Potenza RE-11 is designed to combine traction, handling and driving control with good noise and ride comfort. The Potenza RE-11 is tuned for dry and wet conditions, but like all summer tires is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

This is their canned, general info for Extreme Performance tires.

funny as i ran faster with my re11 than my ad08

If you google re11 vs ad08 you will get many answers to this question. Since the title of this thread is "track tire" I would say the AD08 is better. All the comparisons on the web show the AD08 as the clear winner in track times and grip.

That being said most comparisons rate these 2 tires almost even or close. The RE11 does have superior wet performance....but....thats not what this thread was about....and.....my Z doesnt go out in the rain.

And for the above post "I got a better time with the RE11s", I am sure there were many other factors involved in your time that day. You could probably also say "I got a better time wearing Hanes underwear" too....but that does mean the track conditions, temp, car running condition, etc, played no part.

looks like i need to go buy hanes underwear... and then actually start wearing underwear.

But i agree, so many facters in track times. Truthfully, either tire would be great for the OP. If hes worried about the diff between the 2 to help him on the track, he must be a really pro driver.

The RE-11 feels faster than the AD08 because it can hold a little more cornering force, but the AD08 is better under braking. All in all there isn't much performance difference in these tires, or any of the tires in this grouping - they are all good. I've driven on just about all of them, unfortunately not all on the same car so I can't make a true comparison as car setup is much more of a factor than tire.

That said, if you want the lowest lap times then you need something like this

I'm extremely happy with the AD-08s myself, but after reading all the comparisons, it would come down to whichever is cheaper for me between the two.
