Project Kics are the best  , got these for $180 new, some websites will price match

SPOHN 02-25-2011 01:36 PM

For that price I should picked up some.

I was set on closed end lugs but after seeing some pics the open ended are looking decent.

Open is more sporty looking imo. Depending on the wheels you get open looks better.

Here are my wheels for reference - I was running just a basic chrome spline drive lug nut last year.

hey guys
just want to throw in my 2 cents

we've had the project kics R26 lugs on our track EVO X,

even though they are great light lugs, if you plan on taking your wheels on and off a bunch of times, you definitely shouldnt buy these lugs

you have to be very diligent of making sure that the torque wrench is set to 85 lbs max! anything more than that and they snap right off the stud

we ended up switching to the Kics Caliber lugs...much more durable and you can torque them to 90-95lbs (this just eases our minds lol)

SPOHN 02-25-2011 02:45 PM

Yea I wondered that to also with my MXP lugs. They seem to be holding up great with the torque specs. I've removed my wheels at least 15 times in the last two weeks. I even torqued them to 95 once to see how they handled it. But I did back them off back to 85 before I took off down the road. Good thing I have some spare just in case.

So overall I feel these are great lugs.

I had R40s on my last car. They were great with the exception of a little rust coming from the stud. I have the Rays Duralumin on the Z. They have been great so far.

The tightening spec for our studs is between 80-85 ft.lbs., so why is there a need to torque beyond this range to 95 ft.lbs.?

I know this. I didnt ride around with it at 95. I was testing the strength of the lug itself for durability as to what the op was stating. And to go over some is not a big issue. Plus I do have wheel spacer so I tend to go up to 88 for a peace of mine.

because on the track you can't stop in the middle of the race to re-torque your lugs. i use 80lbs but need to retorque at least once cause the lugs settle and back out a little bit.

+ this for spirited days. Which I go to 90

Ended up buying these. Can't wait to put my wheels back on.

Would recommend them, they take 2lbs of weight off in relation to the stock lugs.

Oh and you can support a vendor on here and get them for around $150.
