This test is geared to try and knock the PS2 off the thrown(as it is the benchmark for rating the other tires). Some come close in certain areas, but none have even beaten it out right. It is the benchmark, and im surprised they didn't put in the results it scored, well those could be looked up. My question was pretty much this and you answered it, even though it seems your a bit upset at the other guy.

I also am not a big fan of basing a tire choice off a magazine article, I do understand that people are looking for something better and cheaper, but you have to sacrifice something at some point. I understand not everyone has the money to spend $400 on a a rear tire, and I technically don't either, but im not one that is willing to sacrifice in certain areas to save a few bucks, those couple of areas may save your life. I have a friend who has offered me an amazing deal on Toyo's but im not sure if I will take them. I have never diven Toyo's before.

In my history with PS2's I wont complain for an all around tire that can hold its own with out having to worry about at much. AKA a new better version of the tire came out. Eventually the PS3's will come out, if they call them that.

I think after running them and going through some of the stuff i have gone through with them they have always made a place on any car i own, I might not be able to afford them over and over, but based on my passed history it would be well worth it. I am open to alternatives, for me it really needs to be done on a test that includes all tire standings, including the PS2 in that article those numbers are not there to compare, and or personal experience(driving someone else's car with different tires or swapping wheels).

Thanks for the replies guys(gals to if any chimed in)

:iagree: I have tried "other" tires...This is my second set of PS2 I ordered with my new wheels. They are $$$, But I don't mind spending the extra $$. I was considering the Bridgestones, but the weight of the PS2 and my previous experience with them made me go with another set......:yum: ...They come OEM on many great cars, and are not "inferior" in anyway!

Now, I never had my car on the racetrack, and I had the wheels alignment checked and they were slightly off. The shop manager is telling me that because the tire softness rating is 140, that 6,000 miles is normal for this tire. Is he snowing me?

They are very soft, but 6k is about the lowest I've ever seen posted here. I got 11k out of mine, some people have over 20k on their stockers, don't ask me how.

I had an 03 z with RE 11's on it and I flipping loved them! They completely changed the ride quality of my z. If anything they were quieter than my RE050A Pole Position tires. I was more comfterble taking off ramps and turns at higher speeds because of the stiffer side wall. Had them for about 4k miles before I sold the car and got a 370 and did not notice any tread wear on the tires.

I liked them more than the Invos that my dad has on his C6 which are also an awesome tire! Quiet and comfterable but stick when you need them to.

Pilots wear great.........and give me the handling characteristics that I think true sports cars are built for.....
I find it interesting that so many here are referring to a tire that is not even listed in the Poll here....The pilot
If you can by a $40,000.00 car, should you worry about spending $1,200.00 for tires that can and will last 50,000 miles or more with proper care ?

You keep pushing the idea of performance and handling of a sports car, yet you are buying max performance summer tires?

You do know that there is another category of tire called extreme performance summer tires right? Including Hankook RS-3's, Yoko AD08's, Notto NT05's, Bridgestone RE11's, Dunlop Z1 Star Specs, Kumho XS's, ect.

As has been said before, there are many better tires than PS2's, especially when it comes to performance.

if you want to change them every 10,000 miles.....and I wonder why so many High End sports cars come with the Pilots ???

And I think once someone DRIVES the Pilots.....they rarely go to anything else....

you are on crack. most high end sports cars come with r comps now, pilot cups are not the same as pilo sports. have you try other real high performance tires?

I did many track days on Falken RT615's, Bridgestone RE01R's, Z1 Star Specs, and Nitto NT05's and all of them lasted longer than 10k miles...and that was with lots of track miles. Unless you have a horrible alignment or you drift every corner you are not going through extreme performance summer tires every 10k miles.

I'll stick with my AD-08s for life! the best dual purpose tire ever.

cossie1600 10-20-2010 09:46 PM

You have to try the RE11, come over the bright side :)

Wait a minute! I am not referring to PS2's. I am referring to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. The PS2's are an older model.

Me too....

cossie1600 10-21-2010 12:09 PM

A/S=All season. Are you really trying to compare all season tires to great summer tires?

kenchan 10-21-2010 12:41 PM

A/S = All Shitto (no dedication or commitment to anything)
