If you have the sport brakes, I can tell you 17" wont fit over the front calipers

bullitt5897 08-17-2010 08:52 AM

Dude for the love... I am not going to burn you but seriously what is this fascination with going to 17's when 18's barely fit and even with 18's on the car the wheels look cheap as hell. 17's will look like "dude why did you steal that civic's wheels".

Honestly, what ever performance gain you think you are getting by going smaller will not help you in the least bit. Upgraded brakes will help you more than dropping to 17's. 17's wont even give you .001 of a decrease in your 0-60 times so whats the point??? I dont get it? 17's FTGDMFL!!!

Tires for 17" are way cheaper

Snakebite202 08-17-2010 01:04 PM

If you can't afford the tires you probably can't afford the car...buy a miata if you want to run 17 inch wheels.

:t:iagree:

Just go with 18" rpf1s. Tires will not be that much more expensive.

I can get you a great deal on 18" RPF1's if you're interested. They will look better and they will clear your sport package calipers.

do you race your car? if you do it weekly, tire bills quickly add up. if you dont race, why buy a sports car. go get an insight.

yep, If I could fit 17s for the track, I would definitely do it.

I am going to try to run 18x9.5 in front and 17x10 in the rear.

Here is a tip. Unless you have a really nice paying job, a sponsor or a sugar mommy, you will want to save money every way you can as everything is a money pit.

Here is a typical weekend

#1 Brake pads ($400 for about 4 events)
#2 Gas (3 tanks for the weekend)
#3 Hotel ($100)
#4 Entry fee ($400)
#5 Tires ($1200) can use maybe 5 events
#6 Rims ($1000) let's say you use it over 3 years.
#7 Food and other misc items ($100)
#8 Racing fluids

Optional are datalogger ($500), camera with mounts ($200), safety equipment ($500), timing equipment AMB ($300).

Without the cost of the car, it's easily a $10K per year hobby. I make okay money, but I always look for ways to save.

Here is the sad part.

I won some money at a track event a while back by getting the fastest time. Yet some avatard in a pimped out Lexus with a big stereo and bodykit got just as much in the car show portion.
