Wheels(almost) Stolen

Well woke up this morning about 4:32am to my first floor neighbor knocking at the door that someone was doing something to my car. When she told me that I knew they were trying to steal my wheels from reading some of the horror stories from yzhang12 and Jeffblue. I woke up my dad and we went down stairs and my neighbors husband meet us down stairs and we went outside but the, would be robbers ran and left their equipment behind. All I saw that it was a couple. We did not chase after them since they took off running like the Flash. They left four cinder blocks and a Hydraulic jack behind.
I went to check on my wheels and some of the lug nuts were on the floor and the rest were all loose. I consider myself lucky. Now I am getting a viper alarm like Jeffblue recommended with the tilt sensor.

Now what to do with the jack and the cinder blocks....

Soon 08-08-2010 08:54 AM

shoulda still ran after them, then F**k em up!!

I hate thieves!!!!

Find a place to keep your car thats protected for the night, so they don't come back. Or just stay up all night waiting for them to come back. Get that alarm installed ASAP.

what a bunch of scumbags. i guess that's their idea of a saturday night for two.

Well I have touched it with my bare hands but like you said the police won't care. I am looking for a garge. Luckly someonme down street is offering a parking spot I going to how much a month.

TongMan 08-08-2010 09:33 AM

Think positively...you just got free cinderblocks and a hydraulic jack. Plus thank your neighbor!!

:iagree:

Get a sticker for the car that says This Car Insured by Smith and Wesson.

Jeffblue 08-08-2010 09:50 AM

If i was you, i'd get the proximity sensor as well. That way, if someone comes near your car, the alarm is gonna go off.

How much would all this cost?

+1 for a noisy neighbor! I'm glad I live in the country every time I see one of these stories. Quick question wheel locks or no wheel locks?

SoCal 370Z 08-08-2010 11:26 AM

A couple trying to cop your wheels? That's one helluva cheap date on the guy's part!

BeachZTT 08-09-2010 08:06 AM

Years ago, a friend of mine had a stereo stolen out of his car at work. He called the local police and made a phone report. That afternoon he was heading out and said he had to meet an officer at his car to get fingerprints. I told him he was wasting his time... They would never catch them... Well as it turned out, they caught the guy several weeks later and the prints that they pulled off of my friend's car helped in the conviction.

All I am saying is that it's worth your time to follow through. If they get caught down the street jacking someone else's wheels and their prints are all over your lug nuts...

toxik 08-09-2010 08:23 AM

370z street parked in brooklyn is a 100% sure way to have your wheels stolen lol.

did you have wheel locks by the way?

Jeffblue 08-09-2010 08:28 AM

yea, i'm curious, did you have the factory wheel locks?

m4a1mustang 08-09-2010 12:32 PM

Someone needs to buy his neighbor a little thank-you gift.

I hear cinderblocks wrap up real well. It would make an interesting paper weight?

m4a1mustang 08-09-2010 12:45 PM

I was thinking some gourmet coffee grounds. A nice "thank you" and also something to help keep them awake to stand guard for future offenses. :)

LoJack or No Jack???

Hi All,
After reading everyone's comments I have a question. I was offered LoJack with my car......at a price of $680. I told them no way. Looking into it further I found that the retail price was $300. They were making a big profit. At first they offered it at $925. Does anyone know what a good price is and is it worth it? I don't want my wheels stolen or any other part of my car.

steveg78 08-09-2010 06:25 PM

Nice glad u caught them in the act. Still would piss the hell outta me though that someone targeted and attempted to rob my wheels.

What I don't understand is sure the Z wheels are nice but I don't think they would look nice on anything except a Z or a G... I guess there is enough demand. And I guess that's proof that people will steal anything.

Think of this a supplement to your auto insurance and relax.

This isn't the Wild West. You can't use lethal force to protect your property... only life. If you were to shoot someone for stealing, or attempting to steal your property, you would find yourself in a huge mess of trouble and the inconvenience and legal fees would far outweigh whatever your insurance deductible is.

I am getting an alarm with tilt sensor and proximity as soon as I can

Here's an aftermarket alarm thread...
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ity-alarm.html

I asked the question in this thread, as I could not find much information on alarms in the forum.

The Thieves strike again. This time around 3:20am my dad woke up to go pee and looked out the window and saw two fat thieves about to take my wheels. When they notice him they ran. If a minute latter my wheels would have been gone. They took of all my lug nuts off and the car was already up on the jack when the thieves ran. They left behind there jack and two rocks. We called the cops, they came and we filled out a report. The cops said they were going to be patrolling my area more often at night. So now I have no lug nuts on my wheels. Now I had to go buy some new lug nuts. I keeping getting lucky. I might start a jack collection.

tjlazer 08-10-2010 06:29 PM

Damn dood. You are now marked. They will not stop until they steal your rims, then they will be coming back for more. Get a garage/dog/camara/9mm asap! LOL

I would be sitting outside in the dark with my 9 and waiting to surprise them. I would be having some fun yo! ;)

TROOPER 08-10-2010 06:33 PM

Yeah, and that could get you shot.

Call the cops so they can write up a report and confiscate the jack/tools. I doubt they'd go through the trouble of pulling prints, but you never know.

TROOPER 08-10-2010 07:23 PM

May be time for that Viper alarm and tilt sensor ;)

Thanks for the reply. I am still not sure what to do. I know that $600 isn't anything compared to what I bought the car for. I'm having problems with the dealer to even get the remote start installed. Uggghhh. What to do, what to do. Shadowx2x, man, you have bad luck. Sorry to hear about the thieves.

AK370Z 08-11-2010 12:01 AM

the jack collection comment litteraly made me laugh out loud for a good 20 seconds. that's sick that you keep catching them.. they have to be really stupid people for coming right back though...

At this point I would sit on my stoop with a rifle and when they come just shoot into the air and watch them run.

tjlazer 08-16-2010 11:14 AM

Throw a Jack stand and Floor jack garage sale in your drive way some afternoon. ;) LOL

Cell 08-18-2010 10:04 PM

You keep the cinder blocks in your room to throw at the thieves for when someone tries to steal your rims again.

You keep the jack for your own use.

tibal 08-20-2010 08:53 AM

people are so needy and are doing everything in their power to make some coin. Its amazing that someone would actually be brazen enough to even attempt that. Good catch!

red6spd 08-20-2010 09:31 AM

WOW NY is like the Wheel stealing Capital. Glad to hear they could not finish or have a chance to damage the Z. Makes me so great full my Z lives in a Garage. I dont car how late it is or how many cars I have to move (normally 2 of my moms) I will never leave my Z out over night, unless I have to.
