Tire Options 19's

Could someone tell me my tire options that will fit these rims? I don't plan on lowering it or adding spacers anytime soon.

Front: 19x9.5 +25
Rear: 19x10.5 +22

Would this size do?
Front: 245/40/19
Rear: 275/35/19

Thanks...

JB-370z 04-25-2010 10:23 AM

I had 265/35 front 285/35 rear, some will say it is not enough on the rear which I could have gone bigger.

Dr.Awkward 04-25-2010 01:35 PM

Gotta go bigger, grip=speed

Zigen5 04-25-2010 03:04 PM

So what's a good size with more grip?

efuseakay 04-25-2010 03:27 PM

Whatever sizes you end up getting, check out the Vredestein Sessantas. F T W !

Jeffblue 04-25-2010 05:11 PM

for the front, either 255/35/19 or 265/35/19

for the rear i have been recommended to run a 305/30/19

This site might help you.

when you do lower and space... your car is going to look so damn sick!

kevin.z 04-25-2010 07:46 PM

I think stock is already low enough, everyone says that and i am scraping everywhere. However, it is weird how stock wheels have so much fender gap. U need to drop the car to take out those ridiculous fender gaps!

Zigen5 04-25-2010 08:06 PM

I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have the body kit.. But I know for sure I would be scraping the kit if it was lowered more.. My kit lower the front at least half an inch. I gotta watch the parking curbs now... :shakes head:

Go with some Yokohama S.Drives. They last long and are perfect for daily driving.

245/275 or 255/285

For the front, which would be a better ride for a daily driver? Now going from 18's to 19's will the speedo be affect alot like 1 mph off?

Jeffblue 04-25-2010 08:41 PM

the 265/35 is going to be closer to stock overal rolling diameter. i'd go with that, but its not all brands have that size

cossie1600 04-25-2010 08:45 PM

It's not the size, compound is way more important

Jeffblue 04-25-2010 09:15 PM

the compound seems to play a lot more into the handling/treadwear. the best compound for racing is not the best for someone who wants to get some life out of their tires. Generally speaking, the better the treadwear rating, the harder the compound, the longer it lasts, the worse it handles. But there is a happy medium and like all things it depends on what your needs are. and what your budget is. i have been recommended the hankook ventus v12 evo. they aren't very expensive/have a good treadwear rating. probably wouldn't be your first choice if you were going to track your car a lot/if you are a professional, but they seem to do the trick. if you aren't going to be tracking your car or driving it that hard, i doubt you will be feeling the shortcomings of a harder compound. However, you will feel your wallet getting thinner when you spend a lot of money on new tires ever 12,000 miles if you go with the best compound.

Zigen5 04-25-2010 10:16 PM

That was going to be my next question... I've always looked at treadwear when deciding on tires. Is there a happy median? Yokohama s drive has a good treadwear but is it good for performance too?

Jeffblue 04-25-2010 11:05 PM

I don't think any summer tire ( as long as it's not from pepboys) is gonna hold you back performance wise. I'd just go for what you can get the most mileage out of withot breaking th bank. But that's just me.

Zigen5 04-26-2010 07:53 AM

As for TPMS, is it just a straight swap? I was looking at how much for a extra pair and their about $200...

nogoodname 04-26-2010 08:58 AM

S.Drives are not meant for performance.... It's more for daily driving. Hankook V12 is more for performance because of lower thread rating. Also, the Hankooks are known to wear out really fast. A few G37 guys had them for 3000 miles and it's bald already. Most of them will be switching to S.Drives now...lol

I can't really believe that a tire with a 280 treadwear rating wore out after 3000 miles of normal driving, i'm pretty sure there would be a lot more complaints to the manufacturer if that were the case. 3000 miles is time for new oil, not new tires. you sure your friends weren't tracking/burnouts/running crazy camber/improperly aligned/dropped? At least one of those must have been the case for a 280 treadwear tire to wear out that fast.

OP i would go to any online website like tirerack or 1010 tires and just see whats available in the sizes you want in the price range you want. then work from there. if you don't want to pay 300 for a tire, then that isn't going to change regardless of any other factor. if the tire doesn't fit, you aren't going to get it. if no one makes it in your size you aren't going to get it. the performance/treadwear is the only variable you can actually change.

nogoodname 04-26-2010 10:15 AM

Only a little bit of camber. Camber only gives uneven wear, not a big deal. The toe can kill tires.

Anyways, Call discount tire direct and they'll beat any tire prices out there.

Bridgestone RE-11's

Bridgestone RE-11's 305/30/19 in the rear and 265/35/19 in the front.

Trust me, the RE-11's are incredible...

Zigen5 04-26-2010 11:10 AM

Would that change my speedodometer alot?

efuseakay 04-26-2010 11:27 AM

See if they have any sizes you want... :)

Performance Probe

And the RE-11's really are that good. Good in the wet, good in the dry, and spectacular on the track. They ride better then the RE050A's and have a better tread wear rating (180 vs. 140 for what that's worth)The RE-11's reputation is not based on forum/blog lore, but on actual results at autocross/track events.

Check out the most recent edition of GrassRootsMotorsports magazine. What tire did they choose for their BMW 335i?

cossie1600 04-26-2010 09:51 PM

These people will probably want blood if they find out those 1200 tires last 10K miles

Jeffblue 04-26-2010 11:50 PM

word, i'm sure the RE-11's are awesome. but they are also $300 a piece. spending more money on tires than on wheels:confused: He's going to wind up spending more on tires than he does on his wheels. I agree those are definitely better tires than most, however, one could use race gas to drive around town, and that would be "better."

OP do you care about price or not? if you don't, get the RE-11's they sound great. if you do, don't feel like you're car is going to handle like crap if you spend a little less money on tires.

Zigen5 04-27-2010 12:23 AM

Yeah, I do care about price. Is there such thing as performance on a budget that last long? lol...

These tire sizes are great, but I wasn't planning on spending $300+ a tire... Is there another option? I'm trying to keep it under $300, maybe $250?

Liquid_G 04-27-2010 09:26 AM

you could probably do nitto invos, 255/35 and 305/30. Right at 1200 shipped for all 4.

cossie1600 04-27-2010 12:23 PM

You get what you paid for, you can probably try Kumho AST or something.

Those are ok on an Altima (hard and prone to vibration when cold) but I wouldn't put them on the Z.

IDZRVIT 04-27-2010 02:50 PM

Look at Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. It's a high performance all season Z rated tire. I have them and I don't have any complaints.

ive always loved my Falken's... maybe you could look into them. they are priced right, just watch out for wear.

Flaken 452, Hankook V12 and Yokohama S.Drives are all similarly priced within a few dollars.

Fair enough.

You may want to give the General Exclaim UHP a look. 275/30/19 for $171 and 245/35/19 for $148 on Tire Rack.

General has been around forever and they make bullet proof tires.

cossie1600 04-27-2010 06:06 PM

You mean in terms of how hard they are :)

You have a car with 300HP, do you want to mess with traction? You can stick the tires that came on my Prius

There was actually a recent article in either Road and Track or Car and Driver where they tested bigger wheels (I'm assuming the results would be similar for tires) and found that the bigger the wheels, the slower the acceleration due to the extra weight.

That is true for straight line acceleration, which is why drag cars put tiny wheels on the front. However for cornering wider is better (but not bigger diameter), assuming you don't exceed the tire size recommended for the rim.

Zigen5 04-27-2010 07:43 PM

Alright, I just ordered my tires... I've been doing research and I went with Nitto's Invo's 255/35/19 front and 285/35/19. I saw the 305 and was blown away how aggressive it was. I realize my 370z deserves the best, but damn... That was a little too extreme!

Thanks for all the great info guys... I will post pics this Friday when I get them installed...:driving:
