Based on everything I'm hearing and seeing, I've decided to re-coat the wheels, the issue is weather I take them back to the original coater, or try someone new.
If I try someone new, I'm going to see if I can get my money back for the 1 wheel that was bad or possibly all of them, since the prep comes in to question. I'm also going to do another color, I'm not liking how it matches with the PG. I really like the Advan RS Gunmetal, or I'll just go with Black, maybe a 20% or 30% gloss, sort of a matt satin finish. I'm leaning toward the Advan gunmetal, just because my other car already is a graphite with black wheels. I wanted something a little different, plus I don't like how the black wheels blend with the car when it's dark, during the day I think they look great. Any thoughts?? Here is a quick photoshop, in the first pic you can see the rear wheels are the current color  and I just put up a poll for black or gunmetal, this is a tuff one. (please vote :-) |

I love the Advan RS lineup.
I just got my Advan RS-D's in flat black. Waiting on the lug nuts to put them on. Should have pics next week. |
oh no! sorry to hear that...that is definitely one of my fears about powder coating...i hear a lot of things can go wrong if not done right...i've read that if the temps are too high then it could mess up the structural rigidity of the wheel itself so you really have to look for a good powder coater that knows what they're doing

How about gloss black with some silver/gray flakes??
|
Or how about the 40th Ann wheel color?? Nice, huh?

Ok, I finally go my wheels back from the 2nd powder coater, they came out awesome! much better then the first time around. These guys were recommended by Berk and were very professional. I decided to go with the Matt Black rather then the gunmetal because it was too hard to find a color, they look so different on the little painted swatch samples, so the safe bet was to go with the black.
Thanks for everyones help, it looks like it was a split between the 2 colors on the poll :tiphat: I attached a pic of the 1st powder coaters attempt at doing it. These were the wheels after I unmounted them, you can literally peel the powder off with your fingers. Good thing is, they gave me my money back, without a fight  And here is the new  Full pics located in this thread: http://www.the370z.com/wheels-tires/...tml#post470237 http://www.the370z.com/members/minic...ront-wheel.jpg |

Looks great like the color much better how long have you had the Hankook's and what do you think of the tires.I just put the Ventus V12's on the rear 285-35-19's have not had them long enough for a opinion but they seem quite a bit smother and quieter I guess that is a opinion.

I love the Nismo wheels and plan this upgrade for the width as well, but will keep the stock silver as I like the monochromatic effect with the silver handles on the platinum graphite Z. Looks good with black, just not my thing. Thanks for posting your experience. |
effin sick. Man you have to wonder what kind of quality a 24hr place can provide at 1am. I mean I have worked graveyard many years and its not normal. I would have somehow found a way to drop them off during non zombie hours. Maybe a friend or something. This place seems to handle it well though.
