jchammond last question will the 285's on the rear be fine with the stock rims that come with the 2009 Sport + Touring?

Only thing holding me back is two things I saw mentioned on the forum.

1) These tires don't look good (maybe because of the narrowness)
2) All weather tires don't belong on a Z

Thoughts?

I'm pretty close to ordering your recommendation tonight though.

1) S-04s maybe. But that's why you size up from 275 to 285 for them. Don't know of any other tire that runs as narrow. 285 will fit fine and look fine on the sport package Rays rear wheels.

2) Depends on what you need out of the car. Some people only drive their Z on the track. Obviously, A/S tires aren't appropriate. But someone daily driving their Z in Virginia? Then sure, A/S tires are perfectly appropriate (and safe!).

You gotta get what perform's for you & not what work's for someone that lives where they can run Max-Summer tires year round....That's why i'd run the A/S3+'s & they're "Y" speed rated (186mph) & they are track tested.
285/35/19's are a perfect square fit on 19x10's & you'll love the ride & tread wear.
All Michelin tires look good!

You can get these & then use this for an excuse to get you a "Custom-Fit" set of wheels/tires for the summer time.
You won't be dis-satisfied at all!

Haha wish I could afford a custom set for the summer, not atm.

Do you guys recommend an alignment with the installation of the new tires?

Depends on how the tires look that come off & if you’ve had any issues with pulling,etc...

If you get an alignment contract (NTB does 5 years and Firestone does lifetime), then you can just go get one whenever you feel like it. I drove mine hard enough that I needed new rear tires about every six months - I got an alignment every time.

Placing my order!

Just to confirm is this sizing right??

245-40/19
285-35/19
?

jchammond 07-10-2018 01:19 PM

You good with those- 26.7”F & 26.9”R

DapprDistrctZ 07-10-2018 02:16 PM

Order complete! They arrive Thursday, pretty excited :). Man forgot how expensive replacing all four tires is but I bet after the install, bigger rears (285), and realignment she will drive like a beauty.

My rims on the other hand have some bad scuffs-rashing from city parking. I could plastic dip them black to hid that.

jchammond 07-10-2018 03:35 PM

Be sure the alignment people give you a printout; as there has been quite a few members (including myself) get a Fubarred one & car doesn’t drive right.
Wouldn’t hurt to ask if they had experience aligning the Z’s
Hope all goes well & tire’s will perform great!

Thanks again for all the help!

Congrats on the new tires! Given you boosted the width a size on the rears, just wondering why you didn't go a bit wider up front, e.g., 255 or 265?

I'm asking because I plan to go 285 / 255 or 265 on my next set.
