Tire wear
 

Just looking for some advice.. I just bought my 370z a few months ago, I have a new set of tires not yet on... the tires on the back are worn a bit funny.. See pics.. if i'm looking that right . . . is that outside wear? Is camber out of spec?

How many miles on these tires? What's the tires inflated to currently?

Camber maybe off, but it would have to be quite off into the positive and don't think that'll get past even the most retarded alignment tech...and it would've chewed up the outside edge more.

I think for sure toe is off

Get an alignment check. Do not put new tires on yet. Be careful and don't jerk the car around. Best of luck.

Or the previous owner just happened to remount the tires inside-out prior to selling to you, but I doubt it.

That looks for all the world like an over-inflated tyre ..........

It is worn pretty much in the middle of the tread when I look at the photo ......... and not on the outside.

Rule of thumb .......

Inside OR outside wear is an alignment issue

Inside AND outside wear is pressure too low

Centre wear is pressure too high

There is another alternative explanation and that it that the tyre is too wide for the rim-width (say a 295 on an 8" rim)

If you reckon you are setting the pressures at 35psi, then check pressure with several other gauges as the gauge may be reading low and causing over-inflation.

Finally, if the pressure is high AND there is excessive toe-in, what you see could also occur.

Check your pressure gauge and get the alignment done anyway - as those tyres are toast and need to be replaced

BGTV8 is right. Looks like center tire wear. Either too high of pressure from previous owner or high speed burnouts.

I had a similar wear pattern on my rears on my G35 coupe... ended up being over inflation (i was running them at 35 but they would heat up and end up higher... tire guy said to drop it 1.5 lbs in the rears so as they heated up they they'd be at 35 not over...)

I had this problem before with my previous set and the problem was pressure too high due to faulty tire pressure gauge. The following tire pressure gauge solve my problem. I highly recommend you give this a try.

I don't see any feathering on the tread edges, and no camber wear. Most likely too much air pressure, as most of the wear is in the center. The one worn the most is the right side tire. The car has no lsd in the rear.

I too have outside tire wear on all four. I have the Swift springs so the alignment is limited with the front around -1.5/-1.6 and the rear around -2.25. I also run 35psi cold. I don't think the pressure is responsible for the outer tire wear. Just curious what the outside tire wear would be if there is no negative camber? I think the outside tire wear is just the way the geometry of this car.

Outside wear under those circumstances can only be excessive toe in .....

Check you alignment
