People Running 09 stock Rays

I am currently running the stock size tires on my Rays but as usual the rears are about to be shot while my front tires are still good. Has anybody gone bigger in the rear with out going bigger in the front? I used to run RE-11s 265F and 295R but have changed to Hankooks for the time being. Just wondering how big I can actually go with out changing the front and running into problems.

If you're running the OEM front size 245/40, you can go 285/35 in the rear w/o the same front...that's the Nismo sizes

You can fit 305/30 on the Sport Rays, no problem.

You should know that unless you're modded and/or boosted, you'll notice that your Z will be slower with over size tires.

ah didn't know nismo tires ran bigger in the rear from the factory. I am assuming you meant I can run 285 in the rear.

Ya I loved the RE-11s but they only lasted about 10k miles and my front right blew a belt so I had to move on especially since the price isn't favorable. I have the Hankooks they don't seem bad at all for the price 800 but I haven't had them a year yet and I'm already at 7/32F 3/32R. I'd say I've put about 5-6k miles on them already. So it's still in the air on what I want to do.

you must have got a bad set of RE-11s or your suspension is off lol

i put around 12-14k miles on my RE11 and my rears are at the wear bar at this point. my fronts still 75%+ when i switch to brand new ones around this time every year.

Did you look at the Bridgestone S-04? Not as grippy as the RE-11's but, not bad.

I got a set from Tire Rack 265/305 for about $900

On Sport Rays:confused:

Personally, I'd go one of 3 ways...

245/40-285/35
255/35-295/30
265/35-305/30

I didn't notice anything different performance wise when I switch to S04 285 on the rear. Or are you talking about people that put 305s on the rear?

Yes, I autocross on 285 square and enjoy it because I can lift off oversteer... If it was daily, I'd do the 285/305

Aesthetically the wider tires, especially in the rear, look very good.
