Can anyone tell me what this is/does??

So I am trying to install my new wheels and on the front hub there is a bolt that sticks out, i'm curious what it does?

My wheels don't fit around it, the socket on the wheel just barely makes contact.

I have a 2015 Nismo btw. Curious how guys with spacers and aftermarket wheels got around this. Can i just remove it?

Thanks

The bolt is to keep you from putting the front oem wheels on the rear or vice versa, remove it.

Edit: What kind of wheels are you putting on? and what is that gold/brown stuff on your hub?

Yup, just remove it. I think it's to help at the factory to make sure they put the rear wheels actually on the rears, but I could be wrong... Been a while since I've looked at them, since I took them off when I put spacers on and never looked back.

Thank you guys for the fast response I appreciate it

I have a set of Vossen CV5's from my old G coupe that im test fitting. But i believe its some type of anti corrosion? Im not 100% sure, this is the first time ive taken the stock whees off

huh, my Z doesnt have that gold/brown crap on the hubs. but if it is preventing corrosion dat's a good thing.

Cooper coat.

You can remove it. You'll be fine without it.

Bolts off and the wheels are on. My offsets are pretty weak on them, i pretty much used them to judge what I want to get next.

Im thinking a 20x9.5+25 front and 20x12+30 rear Vossen VFS1 in gloss graphite.

It would be the first Nismo on this setup

copper "grease", used on brake pad backing plates & misc pieces, doesnt hurt ,, just wipe it off.

cooltoy 02-13-2016 08:19 PM

Nope, not the first. F: 20x9.5 / R: 20x12

Those are the VFS2's.

I will have the first set of VFS1's in that size on a 2015 Nismo. I should have clarified, my fault

You are right. Google let me down.

Actually this is incorrect. These are a tool to remove the rotor in case it gets all rusty and won't come off. Unscrew that screw and remove the collar/spacer, then screw it back in. It will push against the wheel hub and force the rotor off.

They are indexing pins. See FSM.
