RE71R is for dry only...and they did not specifically state that the RE71R replaces the RE11A...well, at least per that article FP linked.. |
I've been running RE11s in 245/285 for a couple years at the Tail of the Dragon. If I end up changing a clutch (which is highly likely) I'll end up not ordering me new wheels and grabbing a set of these for Zdayz. A couple of my local friends up there are switching over to them now on smaller cars so I should get some feedback from them soon.

Heres a review posted a few days ago by someone on tire rack:
Initial Review, 100 Miles on Tires March 07, 2015 NITIAL REVIEW: Ok, so I gave them a good workout in warm weather in the Malibu hills today. My immediate impressions about tread noise and hardish ride quality remain, but when you're canyon carving it just doesn't matter. These are the best performing street tires that Bridgestone has ever made, IMO. Steering. A+. Think of a line and the car just follows it with little or no mid corner correction. They also have a nose for finding the apex. Power traction. A+. No wheel spin at all. Braking traction. A. Very good. Cornering grip: A++++ with a gold star for zero squeal. You don't need it because you can actually feel the road through the electric steering. I don't know how they did it but it's cool. I was going through corners at 8/10ths+ and when I took a break I saw no sign of rollover, the scrub line was about an inch away from the true end of the tread layer, which drops down around the shoulder a bit. After looking at that, I tried several corners at speeds that would ordinarily scare me on a public road but all I got was predictable grip and no drama at all. In fact they grip so hard I'm going to dial in a little more damping into my KW's - the G's they can create overwhelmed the suspension just a bit on these bumpy roads. I might even buy uprated sway bars too. They just have so much more grip that I have to re-balance the car to keep up! One negative note - the compound is quite soft so I don't expect a lot of miles from them. Just driving on the street, when I park the car there's a little bit of street stuck to the tires. Overall, the car just feels a lot lighter and the steering is far more precise. The additional grip is a bonus but I can't safely test the limits until I put it on a track. Next month, NASA event at Buttonwillow Raceway, near Bakersfield CA. Tip: Have the front toe set just beyond the factory specs. My current setting is -.02 |
L0L! Loox like a knok off Nitt0 NT05.

I still just wish they had some larger sizes for this initial offering. I would love to stick with my 265/305 setup. what size did you go with? not sure what your setup is. |
Unfortunately its not my review, still winter like roads here! Its just a review I saw on tire rack for these tires. I wont be putting them on until sometime in April.
I thought the review sounded pretty promising so I wanted to make sure you guys that were interested in user feedback about these tires saw it. |

are you going to go with the 245/275 oem widths? |
hmmm now i'm thinkin if these are that good (after reading a few more reviews) maybe dropping back to a 245/275 setup wouldn't be too bad.
|
Im on the stock 18 inchers(with big brakes stuffed in) because they are light and I like how 18" wheels look on the 370. I am going to go as wide as I can on the stock wheels which I think is 245/275 but if I see a few more reviews saying they are the best thing out there for traction then I might just stick with the stock 225/245 and save the few pounds of rubber per corner.

19's nope. only 245/275 for them. the 255 for front wont work as well to gain some width being .6" diameter difference from the rear. can't remember how much it takes to mess up the traction sensor. |
Just a heads up on these. The 245/40/19 hasn't been released by Bridgestone yet. I picked up a screw in the right rear of my RE11 so I'm having a pair of rear RE71Rs installed Saturday. I've got my order in for the fronts but I think I am in the back order already.

So some of the drivers were using the RE 71's at Dixie (SCCA National Tour event) and they are hands-down the fastest "street" tire available.
One of our local fast guys hopped out of his STX BRZ on RS-3's and into another competitor's STX BRZ on RE-71's and he picked up a full second!!!! -This was on the short test and tune course. For competition, he drove his own car on RS-3's and ended up second. Looking at how fast they wore for the competitors at that event and a few other events since, (People have actually posted pictures of how bad/fast they wear.) there is no way these tires are legit 200 tread-wear tires. Bridgestone seems to have cut a bunch of groves into a racing compound and slapped "200" on the side of the tire. If these things don't end up on the exclusion list before the National Championship, I will have to get a set just for that event. However, I don't think I will be getting a set for my ZdayZ trip. I'm just not sure they would make the trip from the bottom of Florida and back...unless I just sat on my porch the whole time at ZdayZ. (No dragon runs) |
I was afraid the compound would be too soft. Unless you are trailering the car to the event or bringing separate wheels of course.
|
Since these tires are symmetrical, can't u swap left with right tires?
