Hey I called the paint place u gve me he said he don't do full body paint jobs anymore do u have any other reccomendations I just need a quote to repair the door dings and get a whole new paint job

g96818 09-09-2009 10:17 PM

whatever you do, don't call macco unless u wanna pay them to repaint your car the next year. idk if anyone here does it, but you should find a place that stripes the existing paint and then paints it. gonna cost a lot more but it's prolly more worth it.

IMWEZL 09-09-2009 11:50 PM

Must be on the driver's side because I didn't see anything yesterday at the gym.

so i took a closer look on the car i bought it has 3 rust spots on the driver side front fender. its alittle smaller then a dime. ima see how much it cause from ur painter guy to fix that. is he really good at matching colors. do u think its gonna be more than a day job. my other option is buying a new fender and replacing those metal fenders with a duraflex type. my wife keeps telling me just to leave it but its just gonna keep bugging me. i hate imperfection plus rust will eat throw the metal and it will get bigger later on

Romanowski 09-12-2009 11:18 PM

High Flow Cats done.... It took me about an hour and a half, and cost me $8 for lift time

Very nice!

(Now I have to hide my wallet to keep from buying stuff)

Any issues getting the bolts to come off or did you use Liquid Wrench?

Most car manufacturers have a 7 or 10 yr warranty against rust unless it was damaged from an accident. Not sure how Nissan would handle it since you're the second owner but for Free it has to be worth a try.

(Sorry it's the cheap bastid in me )

The bolts connecting headers to the cat converter were extremely tight. Liquid wreched them several times. The others were hard, but not that hard. I'd say the aqward bolt angles were the worst part.

I am hearing a vibration and strange sound when I get past 5-6K RPM. I will more than likely go back on Tuesday to recheck seals and gaskets. I might need to put in a new O-Ring, as Stillen didnt provide one.

Besides that, it feels great. It really screams past 5K.

IMWEZL 09-13-2009 10:18 PM

Oh man can we meet up one day? I want to see how it sounds from inside the cabin.

g96818 09-14-2009 02:17 AM

i thought the hissing is normal if you use berks hfc and stillen's cbe

Well its not a hiss. Its more of a vibration from under the chassis. Sounds kinda loud too.

It can also be the G3 Intake vibrating. I need to lift up the car and check it out. Ill be back on Hickam on Tuesday

Sure, once I get this abnormal noise issue resolved.

thispecialk 09-14-2009 03:07 AM

That sucks to hear

g96818 09-14-2009 03:39 AM

i got a sheet of rubber u can use. wrapped that **** around the intake on places it can rattle.

Romanowski 09-14-2009 11:02 AM

I personally think its the CBE vibrating on the support chassis. I need to check it out tomorrow and possibly insulate it

Romanowski 09-15-2009 03:20 AM

Just a heads up. I was talking with g96818, and he told me he didnt know about the Hickam Auto Hobby Shop. I do all my car work there..

There are rotary lifts that really make tuning stuff easy. Any ID card holder can use it. It costs $4 an hour, and they have tools you can use at no additional cost.

There is also ASE mechanics that help you out if you need it. (No cost)

Why bother using jackstands when you can lift up your car?

Hey anyone have a 350 before what's a good exhaust to put on it

Graybullet 09-15-2009 01:26 PM

Hey guys. I see a lot of you have the bumper safety plate. Do I just get any old drill, make two holes and screw it in? Are the holes noticable when you finally remove the plate? Someone suggested using rivots instead..would that be better?

g96818 09-15-2009 02:06 PM

rivits make it harder for ppl to steal your plate. the holes are on the bottom of your bumper so u wont see it unless u look from the bottom.

Unless you're me and end up pinching your finger with the rivet tool....and messing the holes up.

I think I was sick that day so after being pulled over for not having my safety sticker on I said screw it and slapped it on the bumper. I'm sure I will regret that later on this year when I move to the mainland.

Yeah, I hear you. I don't want to go back to the mainland with a dark square on my bumper when I remove the sticker
