I did some searching around and it looks like GoPro is planning on releasing an external microphone this spring.

Yeah, those bastards. My diarrhea sounds better than the GoPro. I am going to e-mail them though and see if they are still planning on the external mic.

All they have to do really is update the camera's software so you can plug in a Micro USB microphone jack adapter and use whatever mic you want. Obviously you'd need a new case to accommodate this.

Yeah the case bugs me for reasons like that. Can't charge it while mounted, nor stream the output to a TrackMate or anything like that. Can't use a BackPac while mounted either.

If I can get some good sound quality out of this it will be perfect.

Is there a wall charger or in car charger for these? On a trip it might be difficult to find a computer to charge this camera.

GoPro's website sells all of the accessories... no wall charger. But a second Li-ion battery is only $20, so I would definitely get one so you can have two for a long day of filming.

I'm still waiting for them to respond to my inquiry about the external microphone. From what I've read there is an rf receiver in the camera that is supposed to allow you to wireless link a remote and microphone, but I guess we are waiting on GoPro to release those components.

A remote and external mic would make this thing the perfect little gadget.
