Now I wait for my SDHC card to come in.......

I'll post some sample videos and mounted pictures later.

Sweet! Now go out and make a video for us. I was told if you're going to mount it outside, keep it inside the clear plastic (waterproof shell). You get less wind noise. Also, don't forget to switch to low sensitivity (for outside recording) and high (for the inside).

Video now or :ban: ... J/K

hahah. Like I said, no memory card yet. Newegg is much slower than Forged :shakes head:

I've already played with it a bit to set it up. Changed it to 1080p, set the time and date, etc. Unfortunately, the setting to flip the video (hang the camera upside down) is not in my camera, and the firmware isn't available for the HD Hero on GoPro's site at this time. I'll be giving them a call I guess.

Ryan@Forged 01-29-2010 01:29 PM

Nice to see you received everything so quickly. We are working to start keeping the memory cards in stock so we can send them out at the same time. Would save you guys a bit of trouble.

vipor 01-29-2010 01:38 PM

Yeah I was able to save about 16$ compared to GoPro's price anyways.

Do you know anything about the new firmware for the HD Hero?

Also, what's this orange rubber thing that came with it?

:driving: Let me know when you get the memory cards I will call to order the complete set up. I want the 100% package.

vipor 02-04-2010 02:15 PM

If they don't have them yet you can order them from a site like NewEgg. It will be the same exact product. I believe GoPro typically sells the Kingston brand (which is the same one I purchased.)

Newegg.com - Kingston 32GB Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) Flash Card Model SD4/32GB - Flash Memory
$75.49 with Free Shipping and no Tax.

It's actually gone down like $5 since I purchased mine 2 weeks ago.

vipor 02-04-2010 02:17 PM

I've attempted to contact GoPro in regards to the HD HERO firmware upgrade that will support image flipping. Still waiting on a reply.

I'm also interested in when the ALCDB-001 LCD Bakpac will be available. The ABPAK-001 Battery Bakpac too.

antbear 02-04-2010 02:24 PM

vipor..............

:tiphat: Thanks for the Flash Card info and link.

If you get the flip software ..... how will you then mount the camera to improve the bar across seats mounting?

STItoEVOX 02-04-2010 02:36 PM

Hey guys I hope you checked with that site I posted to make sure the memory card you're ordering is 100% compatible. I grabbed the most recent list:

List of Proven Compatible SDHC Cards

List the cards that you have proven works in the GoPro HD Cameras.
I'll update the list below as more are added.

Just to clarify the word COMPATIBLE.
Means the camera performs all the functions correctly as designed by the manufacturer, not just it records video therefore it must be ok. It must record high motion video correctly in ALL modes.

I don't recommend Class 4 so they won't be listed here and price difference is comparable to Class 6
I do recommend 16Gb cards, the battery will run out just as they fill up.....think about that. Why not change the card at the same time

100% Compatible
Patriot 16Gb Class 6
Kingston 16Gb Class 6
PNY 16Gb Class 6
Edge 16GB Class 6

Works but at your risk
Patriot 32Gb Class 6
Kingston 32gb Class 6
SANDISK Video HD 16GB Class 4

Known to have issues for now
Silicon Power
SanDisk (except the one above)
Anything without a Class number on it.

I've been focusing on the suction cup mount to the rear window. I'll post some pics a little later today.

That might have been true for the last, non-HD model. But with this one they've totally revamped the audio capturing capabilities. There's not even a HI/LO setting like the last model. With the HD model you'll receive 2 kinds of backings for the mounting case: one will be solid for a waterproof housing; and the other is slotted for higher audio sensitivity. So if you want to hear that exhaust, for example, use the slotted backing. If you plan on reaching really high speeds or need it waterproof use the solid backing. Its actually pretty impressive compared to the non-HD version at how good it is of avoiding wind noise when mounted outside.

I'll try to figure out how to upload some of my videos to show you guys what I'm talking about.

I did not read that list, but am using a Kingston 32GB SDHC Class 4 and have had no issues in any way.

I was also testing the unit with a SanDisk 1GB SD and it worked fine too (except for the massive lack of storage.)

YouTube supports the videos recorded by the unit with no issues. I've found that even the backed housing picks up exhaust and other sounds just fine. I'll probably run one day this weekend with, and another without.

Do you have any shots of how you have your camera mounted?
