Any auto parts store should have a cheap vacuum pump for <$10 that should do the job. Hell they may even do it for you if you explain that you just need to siphon out some gas.

Throw some Toluene in her as a cheaper octane booster. I just did a trip to the US and had to put 91 in mine (tuned for 94) I just brought down some toluene to bump up the octane and had 0 issues along the way. It cant hurt, although everyones suggestions here are also very good.

Atleast you realized what you did, lol.

You'd rather siphon off the gas or go on a road trip than buy a $20 bottle of something?

You must have spent $20-40k on your car... $20 surely can't hurt too much.

And have you siphoned gas? I have. Most (I think all) modern cars have built in anti-siphon tubes, so you have to use a tiny hose to get gas out. IMO not worth the time.

Or you could just pull the lid to the tank behind the drivers seat. It is just a cap that is held on with 4 bolts. If you go behind the drivers seat then you dont have to worry about messing around with the fuel pump. Takes about 10 minutes to get at and then you can open the tank up stick a garden hose in there and suck away.

I purchased 104 octane booster, it's treats 25 gallons. Now I have 91ish octane instead of 87.

Yes I can remove the driver seat for the lid, but I'll need to find a pump. I'm not going to spend all day using a small hand pump. May have to look online, and tbh don't think it's that serious after using the booster, and grandma driving to empty.

Did you purchase the stuff called 104?
Because that shít doesn't work.

You can use:
Torco
Xylene (with Marvel Mystery Oil)
Toluene
Boostane

Not much else will work or is safe.

Mitco39 07-04-2014 02:39 PM

Toluene has 114 Octane. Which means you need to cut your 87 with 15% by volume of Toluene. So your looking at about 3 gallons of Toluene to bring it up to 91.

Just goes to show how little a little bottle of "octane booster" would do.

KratikosG37 07-04-2014 03:24 PM

Take it 104 is false advertisement.

Ok thanks for schooling.

No prob, all the other crappy octane boosters that raise your octane by "4 points" or whatever, actually raise your octane by .4

Thanks for the advice guys, and happy 4th to all.

The story was simple. I drive 4 other vehicle that use 87, and 1 that's driven 2 days a week that use 93. Soon as I realize it was 87 and not 93 it was filled to the top. Mistakes happen and I'm a dumbass for not taking the time to pick proper fuel.

I'll just babe it for a few weeks and move on with my life. People have already admitted the same mistake and they're we're fine.

Yes I want to siphon, but I don't have the tools. If I can covert 87 to 93 by transferring it to my other vehicles I'd be more at eases.

Game plan.

Filler 1/2 way with 93, and never go over 3k RMP till then.

The key will be to stay out of boost. If you can do that this plan should be fine, but even with the 1/2 tank of 93, I'd go easy on it until you get through yet another 1/2 tank after that.
