Tuner Southern California

I performed a search and didn't come up with any results. Has anyone taken their Z to Church Auto Testing or Cobb SoCal to perform a dyno ECU tune to optimize intake/exhaust mods? What kind of results did you guys get?

Thanks.

roy'sz 03-24-2013 04:37 PM

im goin to costa mesa to get my tune done at stillen. You should give them a call.

370Z JT 03-24-2013 08:29 PM

You can't go wrong with any of the well known tuners. I've been to Specialty Z and Church.

DEpointfive0 03-24-2013 08:36 PM

Yeah, just know Church's dyno reads through the roof. So don't come back and say you got 360WHP, lol

scionide 03-25-2013 03:08 PM

Anyone taken their car to GTM for just an uprev tune before? I only ever see recommendations for shops far from me =/

+1 for Specialty Z!

Stillen is not too shabby, don't expect to have them squeeze to much out.

I felt like it was a canned tune.

Had Seb at Specialty-Z redo it a year later, even though the numbers came back the same, (same dyno brand, but who knows). I had more response through the low and, mid-range, where it mattered.

roy'sz 03-30-2013 12:52 PM

How much did your tune cost you up at specialty Z? Were you able to keep your data cable after?

I bought the license from Stillen,
Then bought the cable, to pull my license, and revert to stock. (Due to Infiniti upgrading my ROM for the 7AT issues) and later upgraded to tuner.

Seb used my cable to install a new Osiris ROM, then tune it.

The cost was fair!! There was no limit on dyno runs, thats a plus!!

Sammy was the BEST. That guy has a lot of knowledge when it comes to this line of work. I got 317whp and had some good experimenting with the car. Probably a dozen passes on the dyno with some good cool down periods inbetween for accurate pulls. Anyone looking to get tuned in socal should hit them up. They are always directly in touch with uprev for updates and are EXTREMELY educated!

How much for a tune at Specialty Z? Can someone pm me? Thanks

roy'sz 04-15-2013 12:33 PM

I got 315 at Stillen.
Went to SZ with the Stillen tune before redoing it, read 305!!!
Seb squeezed a little more but helped me a lot in low and mid range response.

omgZ 04-19-2013 11:31 PM

+1 for Specialty Z. Seb is a trustworthy guy, and he knows his stuff.

JackinSoCal 05-13-2013 12:07 AM

Please PM me with the info regarding Specialty Z. Sebastian seems like a very good guy to deal with.

ebb559 05-13-2013 12:20 AM

Had mines done @ Specialty Z as well. Seb did a outstanding job with the tuning. As someone stated earlier... the response after the tune was a huge noticeable factor.

had my car tuned at church's about 3 years ago. still running perfectly.

JaviZ 06-12-2013 12:18 AM

Another vote for Specialty Z!! Seb is a great tuner and an awesome guy! Can't say I had good experiences talking to a few other well known tuners in the area. Good customer service goes a long way...

anthony909 06-16-2013 01:08 PM

Does anyone know of Specialty Z would be able to tune with the new ecutek software? Also could someone pm me there rates by any chance.

Thank You

370Z JT 06-16-2013 01:11 PM

^i ask Seb a couple weeks ago. He said he would look into Ecutek and wants to get his hands on the software.

06-16-2013 01:21 PM

If ya hear anything let us know asap. im planning on heading there in the next couple of weeks for some uprev soft wear but if this ecutek soft wears better i take it.

anthony909 06-16-2013 01:34 PM

Ecutek kinda sounds like it's going to be better in future but only time will tell. Ever since I installed these aem intakes my car is running all junky and I'm pretty positive its the tune so I want to get it done asap! Hopefully he can tune through ecutek, if so ill be over there in a second.

Dyno sheet? What mods and how long did you have them on for before getting a tune?

Gen 2 intake/stock headers/CNT resonated test pipes/Stillen dual catback mid pipe/custom axleback short tails. Had most these mods about 6 months or so. And with the UpRev tune made 310 to the wheels.

I just thought Stillen was a good shop because they contact me every now and then just to ask how things are going with the car. Has a couple issues after the tune and they helped me resolve everything, great customer support

Specialty Z

Specialty Z is doing ECUTEC already. When I talked to Seb last time, they were still waiting for some more software updates.

Hotrodz 12-20-2013 07:58 AM

Seb, just like a lot of tuners are waiting for ecuTech to release their updates before getting real serious about things. Right now it's a push with the nod going to uprev still because you get the five different maps to select from.

Also, you should see about the same or little better fuel economy if you keep your foot out of it. Mine went down.....LOL!
