From the reading I've done on it not alot but some, it seems the generic maps arent that good but people that use the map that is almost stock (not sure what that is need to do more reading) people are getting good gains. Also those that get a custom tune are getting good gains also

If you consider 10HP good then go spend 700 bucks on a cobb:wtf2:

Not to steal the threat but I have been talking to another company that is making a Piggyback that does just about the same stuff as the Cobb. Unichip will have there prototype by Monday I was told. Link about it is in my sig.

can a tuner tune my car with this? Or is it a can tune

shabarivas 04-21-2009 06:17 PM

A cobb AP is a wonderful device.. had it on my evo X... till i totaled her lol... but it essentially can reflash your ECU to whatever you want. So yes... a custom tuner can tune your car w/ a protune using the AP. You can also DL canned maps and upload them to your car if you are staged according to the parts you get. Other advantages: performance mode where you can measure 0-60 and 1/4 mile times... you can load economy / valet /anti theft maps on the car in 15 seconds and revert back to stock in time for the dealer :)

Did wonders for my STI

corbin09 06-09-2009 01:29 PM

random question, this might be stupid but is the AP tuner going to be able to be used to download maps on multiple cars or is it a one time use type of thing?

semtex 06-09-2009 01:43 PM

An AP tuner wouldn't use downloaded maps. The whole point of taking it to a tuner is that he can build a map customized for your individual car, which will yield better results than the generic one size fits all download maps.

corbin09 06-09-2009 02:58 PM

I realize that but if i read correctly someone said that you would be able to download an "off the shelf" map and if you choose you can take it to a tuner to get it custom tuned. But what I am asking is if I bought this, could i use it on my AND my brothers 370, or would it only work for one of the cars(as in is this something i can get multiple uses out of)?

Endgame 06-09-2009 03:02 PM

That is correct. You can use an off the shelf map or have your own customized tuned placed on the unit.

corbin09 06-09-2009 03:11 PM

But can i load the off the shelf map on to multiple cars is my MAIN question. Or is it just a one time use?

semtex 06-09-2009 03:23 PM

Ah, I misunderstood your question. I don't 100% know, to be honest. But my guess is that you can only use it on one car. Cobb would be hurting their revenue stream if they allowed multiple use. Have you tried sending a note to Cobb to ask them directly?

corbin09 06-09-2009 04:41 PM

No sir, but i will. I think im going to call them tomorrow on my lunch break since they are prob. closed by the time i get off work. But i will let you guys know as soon as possible.

No the cobb AP has to be "married" to the car it's being used on. That means once it's married to a particular car it can not be used on any other car. That being said you can always unmarry it from your car and then use it on your brothers but by unmarring it you would be reverting back to stock. Still, for the money it's a great product. I had one for my WRX and loved it. Very easy plug and play for those who want hp gains without having to worry about special tunes and dyno's. Typically when you buy the AP it comes with maps already preloaded for you to choose from. For example my AP for my WRX came with the stage 1 map, stage 2 map, econo map, vallet map, etc.

tin47 06-25-2009 05:17 PM

Very good product, had one for my sti the guy above me is exactly right about it

corbin09 06-26-2009 10:08 AM

Correct, no pre-set maps out for it yet, but it is ready for Cobb Pro-Tuners to use for dyno tuning. In fact, I just got a call from Sharif (Forged Performance) about an hour ago. We'll be doing mine next week!

jpit 07-03-2009 01:33 PM

Does anyone sell the Accessport for less than the $695 that is advertised everywhere?

Most of the dealers, like us, will offer free shipping. Cobb is pretty strict about pricing, and will cut off dealers in a heartbeat if they discount too much.

And generally speaking, the dealers offering low prices, have very little technical experience at all..just parts sellers.

FuszNissan 07-03-2009 07:03 PM

So, do you just download the maps off the internet. (Sync)

Yes, or you can have your own custom maps programmed via dyno tuning. The downloadable maps are quite conservative, as they're a 'once size fits all' type of deal. If you want max gains, you need to dyno tune. This tool allows the tuner to interface with your ECU to modify the parameters.

FuszNissan 07-04-2009 11:11 AM

Humm...I am not sure I have any tuning shops around here( well..that I trust)
Will they make maps with, said mods. Like CAI,HFC,CBE = this map?

semtex 07-04-2009 12:56 PM

I think you would benefit from spending some time looking at their website. It doesn't make sense for me to spend time regurgitating here what's already there.

Point taken!
Wow, this thing is amazing. I love the valet feature, that is cool. Also being able to send your data log to a tuner and have them tune it for more power without seeing the car, that is sweet. Do alot of tuners actually do this or do they prefer to dyno tune the car.

semtex 07-04-2009 01:39 PM

Dunno. Maybe Sharif can chime in on this one, as he's a Cobb Pro-Tuner.

I like regurgitated information. :stirthepot:

FricFrac 07-05-2009 01:34 AM

What I'm wondering is if these cars are dynoing so very close to each other will the tunes be very similar? Eg if someone gets a dyno tune with the same mods I've got can I just use their tune as they should be very very close to each other....
