We are looking forward to seeing the gains from the new VVEL tables when re-tuning one of our guys with a Stillen kit! We will try and get as much data as possible. Car should be on the dyno next week!

Thanks,

This sounds exciting.

I would assume the stock cam timing is already advanced enough to the point where there is not much to be gained in NA form, so I'm not sure how beneficial this is for NA applications.

isn't retarding the cam timing good for FI?

It is, which is exactly my point. VVEL tuning is probably only gonna be good for FI applications where control over the cam timing will allow tuning for less overlap.

great news

you're right. Some more fine tuning of the timing, lift and phasing might squeeze out little more power under the curve for NA. These engines are tuned for emissions, fuel efficiency and performance from the factory.

edit: the beta version does exist, just the email had not yet been sent.

I know of no such email.

I find it hard to believe that uprev would release some new software to only one protuner and not the rest... especially one that isn't even one of their bigger customers.. (forged, GTM, R/T, etc)

Im sure all of the main stream companies you listed have the beta software as well. They probably won't post until the beta phase is over and they've had time to test the software. I was just simply letting the community know where uprev was at with vvel tuning. There are a few issues with the Rom files for pro tuners but when that is resolved we should have results coming in from across the country.

JTran has done 92 UpRev tunes so far this year. I assure you he is a "big customer".

Not necessarily true.

Especially with freer flowing intake and exhaust -- remember, the VVEL is also factory tuned with emissions and gas mileage in mind.

Folks with FI will benefit the most, but we should see some nice gains NA as well.

When it comes to the Camshaft market there is a huge market. Evereything from Mild to Extreme na, and Fi. To assume nissan used really aggressive cams that can blanket everything is not really understanding the reason behind having a huge market of cams for various motors. This not only opens the market for cams but intake manifolds, valves, springs, P&P, and so forth. Cracking the VVEL is what most would consider the Unicorn of 370z for 5 years. Being able to adjust the exhaust lobes along with the intake lobes rewrites everything that is currently on market for the 370z. Building and tuning a motor is a science, not something that you throw together. THIS THE ONE PIECE OF THE PUZZLE THAT EVERY AFTERMARKET MANUFACTER OF ENGINE PARTS FOR THE Z HAS BEEN WAITING ON.

TRUE HANDS OFF TO UPREV IF THIS TRUE. Honestly the person that cracked this, if there is one person or a handful that was dedicated, you sir/s/mam/s are a BOSS in my book.

Speaking With JUN they said they have messed a lot with the intake side of the motor has not seen gains from the intake side that is why they have made the exhaust side cams due to messing with the exhaust side and seeing gains. As of right now new valve springs and retainers are in the works to from JUN. When those are release higher profile cams will be made for our engines as well.
