Real Time Scanning, Code Clearing, Performance Monitoring, Aeroforce Scan Gauge Part2

I was hoping to have pictures of this in the dash before doing this new post but unfortunately my installer has been way to busy. This update is in a new thread to get all the information in one post, but also to try and get more support for the gauge. I am hoping the more descriptive title will attract more attention.

The Aeroforce gauge is an all in one gauge. I have been using them on all my cars for a while, and when I found out that they started supporting Nissan vehicles i jumped all over it. Its very easy to install. It gathers all the information and power from a single connection to your OBD2 Port. The OBD2 port will support up to 3 gauges which works perfect for the 370z.

Below is a list of parameters that have been tested and working on our cars.

WIDEBAND A/F RATIO – Taken from factory wideband O2 sensors
INTAKE AIR- Intake Air Temperature
COOLANT TEMP- Engine Coolant Temperature
INTAKE VALVE TIMING - valve timing in degrees
RPM- engine Revolutions Per Minute
MAF SENSOR VOLTS - raw voltage of mass air flow sensor
INJECTOR PULSE WIDTH
FUEL TEMPERATURE - measured at the tank
THROTTLE POS PCT- Throttle Position percentage (0-100%)
CATALYTIC CONVERTER TEMP BANK 1
CATALYTIC CONVERTER TEMP BANK 2
IGNITION ADVANCE- ignition timing advance
SHORT TRIM B1-short term fuel trim bank#1
SHORT TRIM B2-short term fuel trim bank#2
LONG TRIM B1-long term fuel trim bank#1
LONG TRIM B2-long term fuel trim bank#2
BATTERY VOLTAGE- Alternator/battery output voltage
ENGINE LOAD-calculated Engine Load (0-100%)
ENGINE RUN TIME - minutes since ignition was turned on
READ AND CLEAR DTC CODES
WARNING LIGHTS - commonly used with RPM for a shift light, but can be used with any of the listed parameters.
PERFORMANCE MONITORING - 0-60 time, 1/8th and 1/4 mile, ect...

There are also 2 ANALOG INPUTS on the back of the gauge. You can attach extra sensors to monitor parameters not scanned by the car. The kits include wideband sensors if you do not trust the factory ones, oil pressure, fuel pressure, boost sensor, EGT kits, temperature sensor kits, and a nitrous sensor.

These parameters were not working when tested on my car.
MAF SENSOR LB/M- Mass Air Flow (lbs/min) (They know its because we have dual mafs. Should not be hard to correct)
AMBIENT AIR TEMP - air temperature before the air filter, may be outside ambient or engine bay temp. (linked to maf sensor)
Miles Per Gallon – instantaneous fuel economy (linked to maf sensor)
Calculated net horsepower (linked to maf sensor)
INJECTOR DUTY CYCLE – 0-100%
TRANSMISSION RATIO - CVT transmission (while these say CVT, may still work with A/T trans)
TORQUE RATIO - CVT transmission
PRIMARY TRANSMISSION OIL PRESSURE
SECONDARY TRANS OIL PRESSURE
TRANS TEMP- Transmission Temperature (gas powered automatics including CVT)
Manual fan control - allows you to turn your fans on while the car is off.

The guys at Aeroforce are looking for are looking for a test car in the North Ridge, OH area. Send me a PM if your interested and I will get you in touch with them.

I also know the pricing they are going to be offering on 3 gauges. Its VERY good. But before i post the price i will need to talk to AK. I know that they would like to become a sponsor for the site, but they would like to see what kind of support they can get for the gauge before they do so as it is pricey to become a vendor. Talked to AK, and got an OK for pricing. $550 for 3 gauges :D
If you are somewhat interested in a gauge like this for our cars, please post your support. The pricing for what you get is unbeatable.

As a small tribute to the community, they will be programming our "z" logo into the start up screen. Below are pics of the gauge temporarily mounted in my car.

Great info, JMac. I'm sure there's going to be a good amount of support, especially on how easy the install actually is. I'm going to give them a call today and see if they're willing to give Infiniti some love too.

JMac88 12-06-2010 01:14 PM

Talked to AK, He said i could post the price...

$550 for 3 gauges...

smoking deal IMO

Hey Staples, I have been talking with them about Infiniti support too. They see no reason why it will not carry over :D

wheee! 12-06-2010 01:23 PM

You mean a 3 gauge cluster to replace the factory setup, with each gauge displaying up to two separate parameters simultaneously from the same OBDII feed? WOW!

Jordo! 12-06-2010 02:28 PM

Do we need three gauges? Can't you toggle between all parameters using one?

JMac88 12-06-2010 03:29 PM

You don't need 3. I am thinking most people would want 3 to replace the 3 gauges. If you wanted only one to mount somewhere else in the vehicle you can do that too.

Pretty sure the price on 1 is $249.

Staples, they have a g37 going in as a test car is that you? They are still looking for a 370 too

Okay -- cool. I'd be interested in one mounted somewhere as an extra guage as in the photo above.

christian370z 12-06-2010 05:37 PM

This looks great, I am definitely interested. Hopefully I will find a good location for an extra gauge as I do not want to mess with the dash just yet in terms of reaching the OEM gauges.

wheee! 12-06-2010 05:47 PM

Anyone hear of an A Pillar solution yet?

JMac88 12-06-2010 08:31 PM

new A-Pillar would be nice, but i think most companies are steering clear because of the air bags :(

Something like Zats set-up would be nice with just one.

wishihadnav 12-07-2010 04:07 PM

great price!..maybe they can work in a deal for the sensors..ie boost, egt, etc..

Jordo! 12-07-2010 04:47 PM

Any chance of compiling a listing of folks who want one vs 3 and working out a deal for each group? :D

Count me in for 1

Also, it looks like each gauge can display two parameters at a time -- is that correct?

I will talk to them about this as this thought has crossed my mind too.

That's correct. You can have the displays cycle through data if you wish too.

Is there any software or cables to datalog that are available with this?

No exactly sure what you mean by this? each gauge can record the specific data show on the screen.

If you mean hooking up a laptop with something like Uprev, you would have to disconnect the gauges till you were finished tuning. Pretty simple to do since it just plugs into the OBD2

They make OBD2 splitters too so that's another option.

jpit 12-07-2010 11:13 PM

I have a DashDyno that basically does the same thing and can display four parameters
at the same time. Installed it in the cubby hole and currently have one external sensor installed - oil pressure.

I mean can it store data and can that data be downloaded for viewing in graphical or tabular format?

OBD II Scan Tool, Performance Meter & Data Logger | Auterra

Can you list all the parameters you are able to monitor? Does the dashdyno include the software for storing saved data on laptop or palm pilot or do these have to be purchased separately?

I have the old auterra software on my laptop I used for datalogging on my old car... sadly the OBD cable I had didn't seem to work on the Z so I sold it off...

jpit 12-08-2010 10:21 AM

The DashDyno takes up to a 2 gb SD card and can record all the data. Everything you need to view the info on a computer is included. I have made several dyno graphs (appears to be pretty accurate) and have plotted out the A/F ratios vs RPMs.

JMac88 12-08-2010 12:40 PM

The aeroforce does not have a way of transfering to a computer. Its mainly for monitoring your car. When your going to be doing data logging, most of the time it would be for tuning anyways in which case you should have your uprev software for that.

That's true.

Just trying to figure out the price difference for the gauge vs dashdyno...

gaveup 12-08-2010 02:34 PM

Meh, not worth it to me for $250 considering all the other available options:

$170:
ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool

$180 and probably the coolest (if you own a good cell phone)
Innovate Motorsports OT-2 - Transform your iPhone or iPod into a wireless gauge, data logger, dyno, efficiency meter and OBDII scan tool.

The scan guage one doesn't sem to monitor many parameters... the Innovate one might be a good deal.

Except then I need a new ipod touch (I use one now for music) or I can't pay music and monitor what my car is doing.

I'm still torn between this and the dash dyno...

Edit -- I'm leaning toward the dash dyno... it';s ~$50 more, but it has way better monitoring and logging features.

If a deal can be made to drop the price on the single guage set up below $249 in a group buy I think that would be the winner tho'.

JMac88 12-08-2010 08:19 PM

I am pretty sure the aeroforce will be more in-tune for people who want to keep a stock look to their car. These would compete more with the defi gauges which are $1000+ usually.

I don't really want an out of place box on my window, or a cell phone holder on my dash. If i was going to do something like that i would do it right and put a carputer in the cubby.

JMac88 12-08-2010 08:33 PM

I wasn't able to find anything about adding additional sensors to any of those, can someone with one chime in?

Have you permanently mounted your Aeroforce gauge yet? I'm trying to get some ideas on how I'm going to mount mine.

I thought about it long and hard, I decided to replace all three stock gauges lol. I am just waiting for testing to be done on the infiniti before they send me my gauges. Once i get them i will be doing the install.

If i was going to mount only one, i would try and mount it as flush to the pillar as possible, similar to that picture i linked.

So they got the G37 in finally. They managed to get all the parameters working. I sent mine if for reprogramming and they will be sending all 3 back. Hopefully I can start on the install in a few weeks

Great news, I'll be shooting them an email tomorrow to see if they've launched the G37 kit yet.
