Has anyone else ordered the Cobb AP from AAM?

Just ordered one today and i'm curious how the 370 map they include is, gains etc.. I know its not going to be as drastic as an individual tune, but i'd be happy with more low/mid torque.

FuszNissan 03-08-2010 01:43 PM

2thextreme has it.

Red370 03-08-2010 03:27 PM

I didnt install it, Jerry's automotive on dyer did this past weekend, took them all day but its done. Its kinda clunky sounding which is annoying the piss out of me, and i havent noticed anything different just driving through town aside from the noise. You really wont notice anything unless accelerate through a few twisties, gonna take it up the mountain this week and see how she handles.

Yea I was coming in around 7:30 ish I guess.

Red370 03-08-2010 03:43 PM

haha, nice, when ya gonna throw on some intakes and exhaust?

Red370 03-08-2010 03:45 PM

BTW, i seen a purple one in the parking lot of building 60 right in front of the NCO academy, pissed me off again. It appears everyone wants a 370 now, dammit! I swear man, if these things turn into the new mustang, im trading for a G37!

Zsteve 03-08-2010 03:48 PM

trade for the GTR, I was talking to the service manager and he said there should be 11 GTRs around here. How ca a place only 1 1/2 miles from the Mexican border aford these cars???????? hmmmmm.

kgreen 03-08-2010 03:58 PM

intakes are comin soon...im pmed some vendors for pricing for Injen. After will probably be some coilovers and spacers. When u drove by that night i noticed your car is still pretty quiet

Red370 03-08-2010 04:05 PM

Yes, its way too quiet for my taste, at WOT, its pretty beastly but at idle, you cant even tell that the car is on, i dont like that. So how come you decided on the injens? they make less power and are in a lower position to suck up water, and you know how deep the standing water gets here man

Did they use the Carbonetic LSD oil? If so, then I would have another shop re-check it. If not, then thats the reason its noisy. I have had the Carbonetic LSD in my car for months and its silent. It MUST be used with Carbonetic gear oil only though as its a special formula for use with the carbon discs.

kgreen 03-08-2010 04:24 PM

yea the vq37 overall is just a quiet engine. I just like Injen but i didnt know they sit lower..yea i hate it but its not too bad if you just stay away from Montwood. Ill check in with Stillen too then..did you order from a vendor or pick up some used ones?

Red370 03-08-2010 04:28 PM

I got in on the stillen sale when they had it going on, i basically paid what the injens cost. Oh it gets bad in alot of other places man, i've been here for 7 years so far, and i've seen a few cars get completely totaled out from that crap. I ordered the intakes directly from Stillen, took 3 days for it to get here. If you get them i'll help you get your bumper off, it was a bitch but i know how to do it now.

kgreen 03-08-2010 04:34 PM

remember when we got that huge storm in '06?? man that was crazy!! i had a kitted on rx-8 on a Tein suspension and i dont know how i got through! Whatever i can get the best deal between the 2 is what ill get and ill definitely need your help on the bumper! i noticed you dont have a oil cooler..it doesnt bother you that like after 5 mins of spirited driving it sky rockets!!!

Hope you see some good gains dude!!

thats so awesome man, when i get to oklahoma im going to take it directly to Cobb in Plano, TX, i should be able to pull some massive power then. You're numbers are freakin astronomical, the torque you gained is stupid.

Sure do, i remember wading through that shyt on Transmountain just to get back to my apartment. No sir, no oil cooler. At the moment I dont really need it, i will this summer when I start auto x'ing it, the high temps dont bother me, when I start driving at normal speeds it cools down to below 220. So how many douchebags have you had try to challenge you since you've had the car?

kgreen 03-08-2010 07:57 PM

Too many! civics, mustangs, trans am, 350z, u name it u know how ppl r here! the only one i had to really take care of was my bro in his 03 mach1. What a big difference it is after about 700-800 miles it feels like a different animal. i cant wait till i start adding power and top it off with the COBB!!:excited:

Red370 03-08-2010 08:23 PM

its amazing how much Z douchebaggery exists in this town man, i've never seen shyt like it, all the kids got em now, sometimes ya gotta put em in check. Had to break your brothers heart huh?

kdoske 03-08-2010 08:29 PM

Not many Z's here, I have only seen 7 or 8 350z, 2 370z's, and 2 GTR's.

kgreen 03-08-2010 10:10 PM

yea poor guy that it was just a small 6 cyl! took him on the loop and only saw his lights in my mirror for a few seconds. same results in my mazdaspeed 3. this car doesnt feel as fast but it definitely is! My oldest bro says my MS3 was faster but it just felt that way. He has a charger SRT8 and little does he know he probably wont pull me anymore

kgreen 03-08-2010 10:12 PM

i wish we had those numbers here! we got all kinds of 350z owners, grandparents, mom, dad, cougars, u name it we got em!! we have 12 GTRs here..one family has 2 a white and red one:shakes head:

Unfortunately SRT-8's are a joke, the horsepower is fine and dandy, but the weight to power ratio is absurd, the car weighs 4200 lbs. They actually have a slower 0-60 than the 370 auto. Get your car bolted up and tuned, then break his heart :)

1slow370 03-09-2010 04:14 AM

I'm seriously thinking of getting it but i'm talking some stuff out with clint and deciding if i want to miss my first trackday this year before i throw the money down. say what you will about cobb not having the maps out right now but they at least offer something i can tweak myself or take to my local shop to have done instead of a protuner only purchase like that other reflash service.

Red370 03-09-2010 08:09 AM

double post

Red370 03-09-2010 08:09 AM

Totally worth the money imho. There are tuners however that have maps such as AAM for the 370, so even if Cobb doesnt, someone else will. And from what I hear, they've made some pretty good breakthroughs tuning the VVEL recently and should be seeing some good maps.

kgreen 03-09-2010 08:55 AM

yea i tried tellin him that but he think his 6.1 is untouchable. Soon ill be at the top in the family now that my dad got rid of the viper and got a R8 but he got the 4.2 v8 which is plenty for him since its just a weekend car. so what are you gunna do about your warranty when you get the cobb? just set it back to normal when you take it for service or whatever reason??

Man a 100K weekend toy, now thats the type of car that is suppose to be used as a weekend car and babyed, not the Z. You sure you can beat the R8?

It has a stock map, so yeah. Haha, tell your brother to remove 600 lbs from his car then talk trash, lol

they got to be a good bit under 5 secs for their 0 60 time stock. Is that the 2010 one?

edit: from what I can find they are around 4 secs in the 0 60, thats pretty good.

kgreen 03-09-2010 04:32 PM

The r8 does a 0 to 60 in 4.3 and 13.2 quarter so I'm not too far off. My brother has a 07 str8..0 to 60 in about 4.7 or so

bluestyle55 03-09-2010 04:43 PM

Your a little off on the R8 qtm. Its more like 12.7-12.8. With AWD is would also take us off the line :(

With full bolt ons and a proper tune it might be an even race...i doubt you would be beating it though.

Don't get me wrong though...I would love to try though :)

LOL, I have heard this rumor before 4-5 months ago. I still want to believe its true though!
