Exactly, I am really wanting to get a tune once the LTH are on but was hoping someone would crack VVEL by then.

Awesome stuff to see Sam. Really might have to start looking into this myself as we have the same setup. Different car body though LOL.

Do the mustang dino's usually read that low? Isn't 260's low for a baseline with those mods? The G37s get almost the same numbers as a Z with those mods right?

What is this tuner doing that the rest of the Z tuning world has failed to do?

What is the name/number of this tuner?

bluestyle55 01-30-2010 10:15 PM

And to clairify... Your baseline includes the CBE, Intake, etc....right?

G37Sam 01-31-2010 03:04 AM

Yes, as mentioned in my thread my baseline included I/Test Pipes/Exhaust/UR Pulley

The Mustang dyno is known to read low, theirs for some reason reads way too low. An HR 350Z read 205-210whp before my eyes

I was speaking to a local Uprev tuner and he told me that his contacts with Uprev and japan have found a you cant just tune these engines like any other car and expect gain. He said it needs to be done in an unorthodox method a 'certain way' to actually yield large power gains instead of the tiny ones we have seen. Ill know for sure when I get my headers installed and will be sure to post my results when its done. I couldn't get anything out of him as to what he was hinting at, but apparently there *is* something special that can be done to get these kinds of gains NA. Did your tuner tell you what he was doing by chance?

dainedazz 01-31-2010 05:20 AM

great gains Sam! i know you cant wait for the FI LTH! do u have them pre-ordered?

G37Sam 01-31-2010 07:39 AM

Yup ;) my name's number 2 on the G37 list :D

Never will a tuner tell you what he did, he wouldn't even let me datalog after the tune. It's his secret recipe. But I know for a fact that he advanced timing big time as it was VERY retarded before the tune as my datalogs showed me

bluestyle55 01-31-2010 08:18 AM

IMO the secrecy seems a little shady to me. How do we know if this tune safe is if we don’t know roughly what was done?
(tuners…help me out here) I know very little about tuning but correct me if I am wrong… Couldn’t you dial in some unsafe peramiters that would yeild higher numbers in the tune but then cause the engine to run in ways that will cause damage??

G37Sam 01-31-2010 08:22 AM

The worst that can happen would be your engine knocking from the advanced timing but our engines are smart enough to retard that once it senses knocking thanks to the knock sensor.

My AF ratio is at the optimum level too, can't complain much :)

cotizi 01-31-2010 09:01 AM

man thats crazy. I'm planning on going back in to get a re-tune once my headers and pulley are on

m4a1mustang 01-31-2010 10:06 AM

Those are some great gains with the tune, Sam!

And to echo everyone's comments already... the Mustang dyno's read low.
