The rule of thumb is:
3 respiratory mods, you need a tune.
Example, intakes, hf cats, cbe, or; intakes, long tube headers, cbe.
For 2 or less breather mods, the ECU can adapt. A tune can help, but isn't really necessary. (A tune can help an unmodified car, as well.)
(Oh, and the Stillen will see more gains, compared to the K&N's. But you knew that, dintcha? )

Knew that about the gen 3. Yes so I have the typhoon the f.i. Cbe and if I get the cats I’ll need a tune. How soon after that final mod should the tune be performed. Will the car be hurt if it’s not tuned Right away ?

For normal, everyday driving you should be fine until you get tuned. I wouldn't get too rambunctious with it, tho. The issue is leaning out under WOT. Good way to cook the top out of a piston.

Rather than starting a whole new thread I just figured I would try and ask on the end of this. If I got my third resp mod, would I be ok for (roughly) an hour drive on a highway to get to a shop tuning me? Just wanting to know what kind of range I have without hurting the car.

Same answer. Don't go racing that id 10 t in the STI, and you will be ok. The ECU will start trying to adapt, so it might run a bit different than your used to. Just be gentle with her.
