Default 15 Nismo and Ecutek with Visconti Tuning STAY AWAY

So I'll start my review John shipped quickly, spent hours talking with me before I bought. I get it in, hit a few snags due to me over thinking and reading ahead on the instructions.

John - a little irritated logs into my comp and actually completed the whole dump for me. <Appreciated but I was just stuck on one spot, he did it though so we could get my tune in on time. We knew my ecu was unsupported before starting so it needed to be submitted that night.

A couple days later lets me know it's ready, spent quite some time data logging John logging in, checking, then me re logging. He ended up calling it a night I believe around 1A.M. his time. Tells me everything looks good and we'll finish the next day. Well I try to use features launch control, flat foot and cruise control. Didn't work (aggravated me a little since John thought we were good) but I decided to wait for him to fix it all the next day.

I e-mailed, called and text. I was fuming I didn't get a reply I waited all day and sent him an e-mail by the end of it and he replies he couldn't believe I was keeping track of the times. <kind of person I am waiting on someone>

He had to contact ecutek since it was a new unlock and features weren't all working correctly. He tells me a week, ok a little irritated, he then says they should be done by Friday well Friday hits and nope another week. I was really pissed I wasn't getting barely any replies and when I was it was short and just pretty much not yet... I may have jumped the gun and posted a negative thread about him (correction) I did jump the gun on that. Even called discover and disputed charges thinking I wasn't going to get my tune completed. John calls me to find out what's going on. We come to an understanding during that call. I respect him a lot more after that. He's blunt kind of an *** sometimes but he's honest. I'm analytical as hell and jump to conclusions. Just not a good mix of personalities. However he understands my side I understand his.

I go to my track day he tells me run on map 3. I do and she performed beautifully. Until I get a cel I text him, understanding he might be busy my phone dies I get his reply later explaining what to do. I'm not mad because again we came to an understanding.

Tonight he sends me an update tonight after I confirm the CEL was something that we had thought was tuned out. He updates it and sends me update for flat foot and launch I load it up and she works

Still a little buggy it seems with the flat foot right now, launch no issues only played around for about 10 minutes though. Still no cruise control but I have faith that John is going to get me squared away. He's done everything he said he would just not as soon as I wanted which is always right then.

I'm glad this came through when it did because I had some bad **** happen after the track including ticket from a damn camera at Nola, cel, ******* curbed rim due to a narrow *** bank drive through even others were walking to.(didn't know wasn't from there, learn from others ) Plus losing all my extra mod money to the casino... = one really bad trip. <not relevant but I want to bitch about it anyway it is my thread/review>

So still a few more little details John I'm sure will work out map 4, cruise and get some advice or log the flat foot problems.

Overall= John is actually a good guy, can come off as a **** (no offense John) but it's his personality. I think this is where some members may give him a bad rep or bash him. He was like that from day one though on the forums he's the same when posting as talking with him if you can't deal with someone being blunt and honest then look elsewhere. Even with my personality I prefer that, to smokescreen and good little happy talks while bullshitting you the whole time (I'm sure you all have met those kind of poeple, well that's definitely not John) He is extremely busy so from my experience you might have to be a little patient he will update you when he knows or has a fix/update.

Would I recommend him? yes.

I have pictures to prove the major changes that have been made to my car. Just in gas mileage alone. I never thought I would see 24.X show up on my mpg at 80+ mph. I'm even more excited to see what I can get out of her with cruise control on.

I'll update with pics when everything is absolutely complete but I wanted to throw this up for now for all those hesitant on pulling the trigger on ecutek or John.

This is all you really need to read

Almost a year long battle.

End Results: I would not recommend John for a couple of reasons. 1. You do what he tells you to do such as you need to update your tune I do. I start having problems within a week I let him know. He says he needs logs I send them. Then he says I'm cluttering his inbox. Well I'm sorry but my damn car is now throwing codes for too rich on both banks, I'm still sitting with only 3 maps and my **** isn't right after a year. I was fine with the last tune I was sitting at "only three maps and a little inconsistent with flat foot and launch control. Which is why he sent me the new tune to update recently.

After sending the logs and he says I'm cluttering his inbox at this point he says you have to set an appointment and I did online via his website. It was 30 minutes ago...

Problems after so called new update - car now throws a bank 1 & 2 rich, car has randomly shut off. If the ses light isn't on and I clear the DTCs my car idles at about 500-600 rpm when warmed up. As soon as the ses comes on which has happened 3 times in the week and is on now my car idles at 1k-1.1k rpm.

When the car is idling without the ses light is when it sometimes idles all the way down when driving and the car turns off.

I've called, text, and e-mailed. Followed his instructions and he doesn't call, text or e-mail. I'm pretty pissed since I had already just decided to deal with the **** tune I had then he says update I do. Have problems then he disappears.

Talks to people with no respect. Funny how he joked around and played around for over two hours while talking about buying the tune. His personality and customer service is horrible. He talks down to people who have paid him for a service that hasn't been completed and it's been almost a year. Remind you I haven't bothered him or talked to him since 7/2015 because I was going through a move, job change etc. I haven't bothered him once he contacted me about the new tune I followed it and this is where I end up I did the update on 3/25 as you now see it's 4/27 and nothing. So waste of money and time, messes up your car and then doesn't show up.

What is suppose to come with the base tune is 4 maps I have 3, your suppose to get support if you have issues. Good luck maybe on his time frame. If it's your play toy that may work for you but when it's your daily and your car dies when your turning left into a busy intersection and almost get hit by a Porsche and SUV as their cussing you out while your trying to restart your car... Makes you think about damn what if they weren't paying attention. **Again this has happened about 6-8 times now 3-4 times when I press clutch in 2nd or 3rd going into a turn or I have to cross traffic alot on my commute when the light green yield for left turns etc.. the rest of the times just coming to a stop.

Then there is now the SES and idling issue but who's counting anymore.

I gave him a chance even let him do his work left him his peace to do his work and "perfect and get updates for the tunes".

He did not call me for the appointment, I e-mailed no response, I text just asking if he was going to make it no response.

John if you reply to this saying this isn't accurate I'll pull my damn email and throw it on here.

Make things simple for yourself go with z1, or a reputable reliable company before you dump 650 - 800+ into your tune, get local support or someone you can trust has your best interest and car in mind.

Less than three minutes after leaving this update he cusses me out over text. No details necessary even though he says go ahead and post in thread. If only he would have been on or updated me that quickly about the so called appointment?

In case anyone was wondering we have ran into a few issues on a few cars but ecutek is sorting through it out all in a timely matter. Unfortunately almost every ecu id is very very different from each other so deploying advanced features can be tricky sometimes

EcuTek does support several different 2014 ROMs, don't know if they support what you have. If for some reason your not supported ecutek can add support with ease

Good for you, not everyone is like you. I didn't say I was mad about it. I just want it working because I take quite a few long trips and do use it for some of those. So relating your driving and use of your car to mine is not relevant. Next time PM John directly instead of spamming my thread and referring to me in third person, thank you.

My experience with jv is very similar nefariousz34. I think he perfected my tune with my last rom update. Now i am just waiting for him to send me my updated features.

Update- flat foot launch control are working

after going over it with John he saw in a video how I was trying to use and explained why it wasn't working, it was more user error and not understanding the functionality of it.

ex. I thought you could use Flat foot back to back (same gear) and you cannot, was thinking for track purposes staying in 2nd or 3rd for a couple of the turns I could use flat foot on a more than one.
launch control if too hot / too cold won't engage

So far so good, he did update me and told me they are working on cruise control and my map 4 looks good. Should have another track day next week so I should actually be able so see how these features work on the track.

update- I noticed a stick or sputter around 5k from a dig like the launch control is taking control. It's only about a second delay. It's strange that the launch control has taken over and sits between 2.5 and 3 but then lags at 5k this is only in my third map haven't tried others. I'm sure John will know what's going on.

Im about to test my launch controller out too. Does it work on every map or does it only work in map 4?

I believe mine is on every map. I haven't tried them all but 4 & 3 seem to have it. Launch control is working for me like I said. Just getting a hesitation at 5k rpms in first if WOT whether using launch control or not. Sent logs to John. It's intermittent but it did happen for the log I sent to John.

Finally got the launch control to work, it works perfect, I launched at around 3k rpm and it was perfect. Cannot wait for a private track rental day. JV also worked out all the kinks in my tune, I'm no longer getting the flashing knock sensor, and every map is running flawlessly.

update- John is still looking into the issues I was having. Haven't updated for a while since I'm moving. Right now I'm on a little less aggressive tune w/o features but John and ecutek are working on it. Mainly my fault this time for taking so long this last week has been a little hectic.

update 7/27/15 - we've tried a few different roms over the last two days neither rom would allow me to start the car. John is sending diagnostics to ecutek.

EcuTek is closed today for what they call a 'bank holiday', hopefully we can put this to rest soon!

Can I go work for them? no worries, like I said I'm moving anyway no big deal just as long as we don't decrease the gas mileage gas is killing me making these trips back and forth right now.
