I dont know if it has been discussed but I would like to point out that Ecutek is not a "live" tuning software like uprev...

What does this mean to you the user?

More cost as your tuner will have to spend a lot more time tuning your car... Being that it is not a live tuning platform. You will have to run logs on any run then shut everything down. You would then download it to your computer and view your logs. then make your changes and then reflash your ecu... start all over! even the smallest changes means you have to go through this process....

Truth, for the tuner this is a important point to note.

@robplusbee yup, they're always getting close but never release anything. We've seen the features exist but..I'm just stillll waiting to test it. Sigh

Time frame

So I recieved my ecutek package on March 13 which was a Friday. On Sunday I was able to download everything and do a rom dump to Visconti. I figured it would take about a week for him to send me back a start tune so that I could get some datalogs in. What is the normal turnaround time to receive an update? I'm still waiting patiently for Visconti to send me something. I know these guys can get pretty busy so I don't want to be "that guy" that constantly hassles to get what he wants. Any ideas on a time frame? Do they have to custom make a map on the first one or do most tuners have a (canned tune) they send out, then tweak the data logs you send back?
Thanks for any input.

EcuTek does not have every Z ECU ROM incorporated into their software yet. But it shouldn't take them long. Probably more than a week, but less than two should be expected. When I dumped my ROM, Joe (Dynotronics) called me back within 10 business days to let me know that EcuTek had done the update. My guess is you'll hear something back sometime this week.

Great, thanks man. Gives me a better idea on a time frame. :tiphat:

John visconi tuned my car yesterday in about 30 minutes. Not long at all. Tuned for exactly what I had done, I gained launch control, 3 maps for 89/91/93 octane, first year of updates is free and he will look at logs and retune for minor bolt on upgrades through email. The car feels a lot more linear no jumps or drops in the rev band.

Yes it's not live change on the fly tuning. I had that with my power FC commander and this blows that out of the water. watched him tune 8-9 second GTRs yesterday with this and he's currently working on flex fuel for our cars... E85 anytime no switches or hooking up to a laptop. Just pump from almost empty and go. Changing back to 93 octane is the same. I'll be dealing with John from now on.

You are local to him, or no? This is a good sign that things are still moving forward, at least

Nope I'm in Dallas. He was here for TX2K. He told me last night to post on here and y'all can order stage one with bolts ons through visconti tuning. Car runs perfect and yes launch control is awesome. You can set up everything through the laptop then it's adjusted at the steering wheel afterward in increments with the coast/acceleration lever.
everything is working flawlessly so far driving home and playing from Houston and around town this morning. But this setup is already available and been done on quite a few cars. Yes he may be hard to reach but most of the best are.

However, I'm not sure the extra features are fully released. There is a master tuner in Austin who does a lot of GT-Rs, but they still don't have access to these latest 370Z features. John is the only tuner I've seen that has access to them.

Not sure who's all got those features but it'll be tuned into your setup when you receive it. New ECU ID's take 1-2 days to get setup out of his mouth. Mines a 2013 nismo. just letting you guys know it does work. I'll be posting video to YouTube later on launch control and changing it.

Saying I don't know who's all tuning in launch control or other extras. But if you order your tune and cable You can have that already added as you're initial tune file then run some logs and have him fine tune it through email.

But I already have a tune. I just want the new features (mainly a valet tune). The two master tuners local to me do not have access to those features apparently. And I'd prefer not to e-tune, although if John has a way to upgrade my tune with the new features, I wouldn't be opposed to that. Otherwise, I guess I will just have to wait longer. No big deal; it's already been two years

Oh ok, yeah that was just a general statement for everyone. Are you Ecutek? If so he should be able to do it without messing with your tune. Would just need your file and would change it and send it back. Not sure what he would charge. But if it's uprev it's completely different and I'm told you can't get those features through that. Contact John at visconti flash and see what he says can't hurt.

Yes, I have Ecutek. One of the first ones back in 2013.

Problem is I didn't bother to buy a cable because I have a local tuner. I will also have to upgrade to the Pro Tune software (I think?). I don't know why, but that's what I've been told - I thought the Pro Tune was just for the tuner, not a whole different license. I may send John a PM in a month or so if the local guys can't get the new features by then. He's a busy guy and enough customer of his have problems reaching him that I'm not even going to bother him until I'm ready to pull the trigger. At that point, I'll just call him and ask everything on the phone first - I hate having technical discussions via PM or email.

It's a little frustrating that there is no one on this forum that can actually explain what's going on with the Ecutek software. We are relying on information from the people that make money selling the product, not from Ecutek themselves. It's great that John has it and is offering it to people. But why only him? Thankfully, I don't have a need for any of the extra features, and my tune is fine. So I'm just in a holding pattern until they're ready. What's another month or three at this point?
