New autox tires

I am staring to look for new autox wheels and tires this spring and want to step down to a 18. What tires do you recommend and what sizes? I am currently running Advan AD08's in 275/30/19 F and 295/35/19 R. The wheels I am looking at are the new SSR GTV01's 18x9.5et 22 F and 19x10.5 et15 rear. It's the same width and offset that my Type F's are now. I am not looking at slicks since I want to improve before I jump to that level. Slicks will hide my bad habits at this point.

Will these be dedicated ax wheels? For street tires I live BFG rival or Dunlop Direnzzia II. Dot r I like Nitto NT01 as a nice intermediate tire.

Yep, dedicated autox wheels. My Type Fs will be my DD set.

Is square ok for autox? Only thing I can really find in what I want is the Hankook RS-3 in a 285/35/18.

I run in ASP so I could run square if I want

Depends on the classing you're trying for. If the rules allow it then I'd go for it. IMHO going to a square setup was the best mod I made to the car for AutoX.

Holy **** the price just went up over a $100 a tire though. BS!

I'm trying to stay in ASP. I will have to double check the rules but I am already well past stock tire sizes right now anyway. If I ran a 285 up front, should I get a wider wheel?

If I remember right tires and wheels are open in ASP. fwiw I run 295 A6's on 10" wide wheels up front.

No that's perfect. If you go wider then yes.

Any pics? Did you do any fender mods to get it to fit?

mdxj 01-18-2014 10:03 PM

What offset are you running?

gomer_110 01-18-2014 10:16 PM

Wheels are Volk TE37SL's 18x10 +30 up front and 18x11 +18 in the rear. 295/40-18 A6's on all 4 corners. Only had a little rub up front on the fender liner (I'm at stock ride height). Will probably be going with some 295/30-18's next time as the 295/40's were discontinued by Hoosier.

Didn't plan on it. At least not until I burn through the 295/40's I have.

We'll get coilovers and leave it stock height at least.
