I need to figure how to launch. Launching at 2500 I'm getting lots of wheel spin. Granted it's my first time on a track the best I could muster is a 9.1 in the 1/8 whereas my buddy with the same mods on his Nismo is 8.9 that same night and his record 8.6.

In my defense I'm running stock tires, I don't heat them up, and according to my friends running that night, the track wasn't prepped well and I wouldn't know any better since it was my first time at a track.

.....but I'm still shitty at launching. I guess I'm afraid to break something on my DD lol.

Not a 370Z, but....

....it's relevant.

Went to Island Dragway in NJ for their Friday eve street cars only shootout. Good stuff, I literally made eight passes within three hours! Perfect conditions.

I ran a slew of low 12 second passes, but nailed ONE 11.98 @ 120. I got it on vid.

I've barely seen any Infiniti's in the elevens, and probably none with an auto, but that's irrelevant. This is what I managed.

Props to Jimmy and his guys at TheShopCT.com for the setup and advice, and of course to the hard working parts and service from GTM.

More trans work is forthcoming.

Thanks for viewing.

So I realized shifting normally at WOT, rather thand shifting hard, does not cause my car to go rich and fall on its face. I think I may go to the track Thursday :)

Don't have the slip as it was a while ago but I thought I would contribute as not many nismos are posted. Stock, 35psi in the tires, Guam so it's 9 billion degrees, 91 octane and it ran a 13.46. I don't drag it much since there not made for it, supercharging in near future with autocross in mind not drag. Wanna drag, get an old v8, cheaper to make more power. I could get an old 401 amc engine and dump 6 grand into it and it would be a low 10 second engine, 6 grand gets a 370z a sc or TT and u get a low 12 high 11 if ur lucky w/o destroying it with NOS. Totally not a financially feasible drag car. Besides it's more fun passing all the porche turbo s's on the track with a lightly moded Z as u happily think about how much less your z costs lol.

I completely agree, this isnt a drag car. I wish people here were this enthusiastic about amateur road course events. Not knocking it, different strokes for different folks. Plus, the fact that you can compete with people on the other side of the country is pretty cool too.

I'd love to road race my car...but that's another expense I can't afford. So I stick to my $20 drag nights every once in awhile. I did a small 1.2mile road course in my old G35...best time I've had behind the wheel.

I am going in july with performance motorsports to the pokonos? i believe... for HPDE ... I am a little nervous about damage but they have a trailor IF needed... and the first time out I wont be pushing it all that hard...

Gary and i believe andrew are certified instructors and I can not wait for them to teach me... its gonna be an awesome weekend...

As for the drag strip I am going tonight but its like 95 degrees and humid... My expectations are low.. I almost dont want to use my MT radials because I feel like I am just gonna waste them lol.

Its my bday gift to myself , lol
