Yeah, I'd be happy with your time.

I need to get my 60' down and I'll manage a 12.9 one way or another. I did trap 108mph...

tranceformer 01-28-2011 05:12 PM

I'd kill for a 107 or 108mph trap speed!

I think the weather and/or lack of track prep had something to do with the 60' time.

Next time I'd try pulling the brake light fuse and do a quick burnout to heat up the tires. Some might say you don't need to do that with street tires but it seemed to work for myself (and jnaut).

jnaut 01-28-2011 07:17 PM

a little heat will deff help. not too much with street tires as they become slippery when over heated.

tucson arizona drag time

Year: 2009
Model: base
Factory Options: none
Transmission: 6MT
Tires: stock
Bolt ons: none
Track Name: southwest international raceway
Track Temparature: 67F
DA:4269
1/4 Mile time: 14.768
R/T: .448
60': 2.358
330: 6.448

First time at the track this weekend. Problems with hooking up off the line like everyone else. Finally smoked them a little and seemed to do the trick. I launched at 3000 and thinking next time bump up to 3500 or 4000. Still a horrible time but the density altitude really F'ed me. Maybe next time Ill get in the 13's.

SIR here in Tucson is notoriously slow. You gain 3-4 tenths going up to Phoenix and almost a full second going to sea level.

Do you guys leave your foot planted while shifting into 2nd? I always let off in 2nd but stay on it in 3rd and 4th. I'm just wondering if you would get too much wheelspin if you stayed on it while going into 2nd.

serturbo 01-31-2011 05:54 PM

I'm guessing you'll spin too much. I think you're doing fine after the launch. A 105.58 mph trap is right on par for your mods. Stock 370s normally trap 103-104. Like someone else stated, your biggest obstacle to lower ETs is the launch.

IMO, it really depends on the track prep.

I powershift 4th but only if I cut a really good 60' time. Otherwise I lift on every shift. Depending on the night I could probably get away with every shift at PBIR.

yea thats what people at the track were saying, Going up to phoenix at the end of the month so that should help out. Hitting the indy track an hour south this weekend and gonna practice down there.

jbak 02-01-2011 01:33 PM

Trickle... don't expect 4 tenths off by going to Firebird... 2 maybe 3 is more like it.

What's going on a INDE this weekend ?

jnaut 02-01-2011 08:09 PM

i never let off of the skinny pedal during shifting!!

I letoff when shifting to 2nd if not the back end gets alittle fishy.

I'm assuming the answer to this question is no, but do any of you guys know if the 17's from the 350z will fit over the akebonos in the rear? I'm trying to run some drag radials...

I haven tried...but from reading on here, 18s is the smallest diameter wheel to fit over the Akebonos.
