I have fun with my auto plus the Mrs. can drive it. Kinda hard to fondle the ladies with no free hands. That one leaves most speachless after asking the manual question.

I've been driving manuals for the past 20 years and went to the dealership with the same mentality that a sports car should be nothing but a manual. Then I test drove my 7AT, signed the papers and haven't looked back. I just ignore the manual versus automatic debates because arguing about which is better is like pissing into the wind. Drive what feels right to you and what you are going to enjoy.

Since this is posted in track section I'd say its a bad choice. If your serious about track car get manual. If you are more worried about sitting in traffic get an SUV. Nice Audi, Porsche, Mercedes SUV are much nicer in traffic. Good visibility over traffic much more comfortable, more room to stretch out and sip your latte.

Admin moved it to track was originally in general section

I would only say don't get something you feel you'd second guess. If from day one you felt you wanted an AT and manual was an afterthought I'd say go with the AT transmission
Many years ago I wanted a Prelude really bad, jumped on the cheapest one that happened to be auto. I regretted it and spent much of my time trying to make it look manual (shift boots, different shift knobs etc) I also wouldn't go base, brakes look a little puny and I think you'd enjoy the perks of a Touring/Sport much better if you can find one. Also doesn't sound like you'd be doing lots of modifications so I think it would be a better fit for you. |
well im looking at a couple if i cant get a white 370 i was gonna get any color nismo i can get my hands on. and since nismo only comes in manny i have nothing to worry about it terms of looking. i called for a nismo and he said OTD 31k so im trying to really jump on that deal. i was gonna walk in with 29k and see if they would budge on that but that all depends on if i can get 14k financed cause i have 15k already

also 7AT all the way. solely based on performance and if the OP is gonna DD it then yes 7AT is the way to go.
also if you have no care on performance then base model is fine. personally i had to get the sports with the much better brakes and LSD. the touring and nav was my bonus to my self lol also i got such a deal on mine it was hard to resist  |
man those "deals" i never get good ones here on the east coast.
cars are so damn overpriced and then the tax is ridiculous. 2011 sports with 22k miles on it 31 OTD...wtf |

mine as you can see by the sig is a 09 sport/touring/nav 7AT and i got it with 1800 miles on the dash. almost matched that on the ride home lol i paid a very nice price too :stirthepot: |
PA huh, from my looking around i noticed PA has the cheapest z's but no white ones.
and the nismos are no where within 250 miles of me lol. so if i do get it far away im prob gonna get it delivered. any chance i can use u as a reference and get a z from where you got it if they have what i want :) |

Hey, if someone wants a 370, I'll still give them advice, if someone is on the fence, I'll tell them to get something else Maybe I have REALLY shítty luck But at the same time there's this list of generic problems: http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...0B1080FB3A.jpg They didn't fix ANY of that on the 370Z |

This may help a bit...
I just bought my Touring (Non-Sport Pkg) 7AT on Saturday. I had, over the past few months driven a few 370s in 6mt. The 6mt made me despise synchro-rev match. That in turn made me despise the 6mt on the 370. I turned my back several times and never once considered an auto because I, too, thought it HAD to be a manual. Then, last Saturday, I pulled into the Nissan dealership while I was shopping against the 1 and 3 series BMWs. Gave the 7AT a shot, loved it, negotiated, signed the papers and walked out a happy man. But also understand this was all in part due to where I live and feathering a clutch for 35 minutes a day while waiting to get through a gate is annoying as all hell. Anywho... Here is why I didn't want the sports package. #1... HATE the wheels. They remind me of Pontiac wheels back in the 90s. #2... I wanted to install a Quaife LSD. Sports package has one and swapping requires additional parts. #3... Brake package can easily be added and I'd like more options than the Nissan installed parts. For example, Willwood. The base gave me a clean slate to work from and no additional options to pay extra for that I would likely rip off anyway. And the Bose? It stays. I don't like Bose but I don't really mind the sound. But the seats!! Wow. I love the sueded door panels and seat inserts with the leather trim. And while it adds some weight, I like my heated seats too. Glad I got to keep them! For the record, I came from a 2010 Acura TSX 2.4L. It was modded. But only netted one ounce of fun when I hit the corners at 5-7k rpm. The 370 gives me like, 900 cajillion metric tons of fun even when cruising at the speed limit. I don't even need to drive fast anymore. I also expected a very stiff ride but it is surprisingly comfortable for road trips. Will be taking it to northeast ohio from Virginia Beach in a week. So excited! Can't wait to get over 1000miles so I can open her up a bit. :excited: Good luck with your choice!!! I'm sure you'll be happy once you sign your wallet away and get in and just blast off. |

I hear Nissan hands you a purse and high heels when you sign for a GT-R. That new Porsche GT3 -- you only get a purse when you buy one. Cheap bastards. |

Don't drop 15K on a car, I mean if you are sitting on 100K+ then fine but man that's alot of cash. |

The pedal shifter helps you get ladies...I mean, it helps strengthen finger muscles...Lewis Hamilton does this everyday, look who his GF is!

Sounds to me like the AT would suit the OP better. I live/work/play in and around NYC, and both my Z and my beater are MT. Never been an issue for me. It's all about preference. I'm a competitive guy. I like doing things that are not necessarily always the easy way...hell, I turned the syncro-rev match off after the test drive, and never turned it back on.
To me, there is nothing like getting that perfect downshift on a manual transmission vehicle. It doesn't happen every time...but when it does...damn. Driving stick is just....fun. I do, however, believe that buying a manual transmission just because people break your balls about owning an automatic is the height of stupidity. Do what you want, and enjoy the hell out of it. :driving: P.S. Ladies love the stick. |
