here's vid from this weekends exploits... 1st lap was warm-up, 2nd/3rd under black flag, but better than nothing! Also, I didn't take the time to edit/clip the video, but did shoot in 1080p! switch your youtube over to HD and enjoy!

Location/Event: 26-Sep @ Chuckwalla Raceway - Private event... ~90F...
Recent mods: added ballast to comply with NASA TTA
Wheels & Tires: Forgestars + Nitto NT01s (to comply with TTA)
Sponsors: Lou Fusz Nissan, Forged Performance, SRD Performance of Tempe

I love the layout od this track Travis .... looks like an emphasis on cornering grip and transitions from left to right and back with only a couple of big stops - is the track rough, or it is that your car suspension is quite stiff (sorry - I have not had time to review your full build thread - there are nearly 80 pages of it) as there is quite a lot of bounce in the images. I can see that you are precise with your cornering lines as well .. close to indentical lines in each lap ... loved it !!

What was with the red flag at the end?

And those BMW's sure made for some fantastic rolling road blocks...

Thanks... it really is a terrific track and I think as they add more creature comforts and a hotel nearby it is really going to do well... turn #9 was built to model the famous corkscrew and the 10 degree banked turn 'bowl' reminds me of nurburgring, but longer radius than the ring

the laps in this vid were ~2:15 laps vs my best time this weekend of 2:02... my reason for posting it was to share the track really, and it was the only video I captured

the camera bounce is a function of stiffness of chasis and the fact that the camera is directly mounted to the roll cage... I run 18/16K springs

I should have explained all that up-front... these were slow laps... first lap was to warm-up tires... and then on the second lap I got a black flag b/c some aluminum tape fell off my car and they thought it was a bigger deal... as a result, I basically eased off in second lap and then got red flagged for not coming in after 2nd... as I said above, not the most exciting or fast laps but the only 'good' video I had so figured I'd share

I do have some rather crappy video that I shot that is a much faster pace... I accidentally shot in "manual" mode on the camera so the image isn't very good... but I'll see if I can dig that up

Ahhh, you reckless bastard and your black-flag-ignoring ways...RED FLAG FOR J00

Gotcha though, I dont think I ever noticed a black flag in there...

The pace in this video is faster... was on hoosiers and running ~3 seconds faster v nittos... 1 or 2 clean laps... unfortunately as I mentioned the camera work was off

It was just processing... you tube takes ~ an hour for a 10 min vid in HD... try again in 20 mins

Go off a little around the 3:05 mark?

travisjb 09-28-2010 12:21 PM

yup, good eye... weekend is not complete without a little off road excursion... just two wheels! :) unfortunately, I later dropped the left two wheels and it took out part of my somewhat fragile custom alum exhaust

ChrisSlicks 09-28-2010 01:28 PM

2 wheels off and sideways. That's how you know he was driving flat out.

Been a while since I updated this thread.... here's a video from today at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR)... I was running a TTA setup but switched to Hoosier race slicks to see how much time it would gain... verdict so far is good for 2.0 seconds at this track over my NT01s... and honestly more fun to drive! downside is MY GOD were these tires expensive haha

Almost have the RPM setting configured - just need to calibrate the software to my gearing... NO, it does not rev >10K lol
