What a sad ending to what looked so promising just a while ago. I hate to Monday morning quarterback but the strategy calls were just not good there at the end.

Dwnshift 07-27-2012 04:51 PM

Just a quick note.....
the strategy calls were correct.
When we came in it just began to dump. .and we were obe of the only teams to go to wet tires.
Cars that stayed on dry tires coulndt even circulate at 30 mph behind the pace car.
this put us to P1.
If we would have gone back green flag racing while the track was wet...we would have been unreeeal.
Nobody knew that we would have a red flag and park the cars whilr they dryed the track.
So by them chosing to dry the track....instead of us racing in the wet....cuz we have rain tires ....we were kinda screwed.
Then we had to pit before going back to green to get dry tires.
So it wasnt the strategy was exaxtly what it needed to be.
We played our cards correctly....the house just decided to deal new cards
also......
In the final 75 min of racing...i had 10 yellow laps ...2 green flag laps.....a lot of sitting...and a handfull of drying the track laps...but mostly sitting

b1adesofcha0s 07-27-2012 04:53 PM

That sucks. Better luck next time guys

ewgillis 07-27-2012 05:50 PM

That's nuts! I thought this was a rain-or-shine series? From the sounds of things, you guys did an unbelievable job, the whole team. From that wrecked car and no practice, no laps on it, no laps for Brian before today, just Wow.

The other teams must be staring.

TreeSemdyZee 07-27-2012 06:20 PM

LOVED the race, but my feet are still all wrinkly.

gomer_110 07-27-2012 07:22 PM

Dwnshift, any word on if you guys are gonna be a Laguna Seca yet?

And what about the W/C race at Mid-O next weekend? I know there was a slim chance and was just curious.

Dwnshift 07-27-2012 07:58 PM

We are working on Laguna.
I thnk this car would dominate there

Yep you guys are so freaking close to a win. Obviously you have the car and driving talent to do it. Now all you just need a little luck.

ChrisSlicks 07-27-2012 08:35 PM

Total BS on the red-flag, that's why you all have rain tires isn't it? The guys still on slicks just had to make it around the track once (which of course is easier said than done in those conditions) and it would have been an awesome wet session.

Mike 07-27-2012 09:31 PM

for the hand(s) you were dealt, you guys did extremely well. It sucks that they changed them out on you, but good job nonetheless

TreeSemdyZee 07-27-2012 10:13 PM

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm honored to have this team representing we Z guys and gals.

When they lined up for the start today, I was really bummed. I couldn't see the Z anywhere. Then, once most of the other cars were in line, here comes the Z, like the conquering king winding its way to the throne. I was so jacked up, I almost fell over the seat back in front of me.

sig11 07-29-2012 07:54 PM

Was a blast to watch. Wish they had let you race!

TreeSemdyZee 07-29-2012 08:39 PM

A few shots from the day. Forgive the fencing. I'm not "official".

Thanks. That means a lot. I think my feet are finally dried out. I only made it about an hour into the Rolex race. Too much rain and walking. I was beat.

Dustin@Z1 and I stopped in at Doran Racing today to check out the RC. we had a great visit chatting up the team about their experiences and even a few tricks for the PWC cars :) also, we got to check out the amazing Doran upper control arms. holy crap... those arms are stunning. well structured and reinforced, yet so light i could easily lift them with a single finger. here's hoping they make at least a small production run of them!

Dwnshift 08-02-2012 02:29 PM

I tooooooooooooold you

Sorry I missed you guys.....but the beach awaits.

Haven't heard nary a cricket from this thread, so I though I'd post this vid from Leguna Seca. Mr. Skeen seems to know what he's doing. Does my heart good to see him blowing by all the V8s.

Wow, that was intense.

To be clear at the back of the pack and end up in sixth is pretty amazing.

2X! High speed bumper cars! :driving:

DCNISMO 09-11-2012 08:20 AM

Great video, just like on the highway, the BMW drivers are being dicks on the track as well. The Turner M3 was really holding him up at one point and cutting across his front even though Mike had the inside line in the turn entry.

Very nice tight driving. Man he did well given power advantage of those V8s. He had to take well calculated risks. That pass in turn 1 was hair raising!!!!! He really knows what he is doing though. He was making positions and keeping tires from falling off. Takes some guts to take those inside lines but that's only way the under powered Z was going to make positions. That car with 50 more HP would be a winner! Although it still has hard time putting down power. You can hear him spinning rears in quite a few turn exits and he coasts through some of faster turns where Porsches can stay on power. Dang front weight bais! But still can see the car handles turn in like a champ. I love that characteristic,
