The Z is a road car. And a good one. I'd put my road racing experience against you on a road course any day of the week. You can go in a straight line for 1/4 mile with very good times. I know how to drive.

If I may also add? You must not FORGET that the 370 is a NEW car and 80% may not want beat the crap out of a Brand New car still under warranty. ;)

I used to Drag my V8 70 240z at Pomona Yeeeeeears ago but thats another story :D

That's the reason I shifted very very early when I ran 13.0.. No need to kill the car just to run in the 12's, as 12's isn't really all the fast.

You were driving by 1970? Then you're over 50 and surely you realize what you sound like to others when you make posts like this. Kinda made me cringe.

Is over 50 a guess? If yes, its not that good. That would make me just over 9 years old. You want to make another guess? Perhaps try some mathematics instead. What do you think genius?
I know how I sound to some, but I don't know how I sound to others:) Let's leave some, others, & some others:) aside for now. Tell me how I sound to YOU, & why do you cringe.......

I'm sure there is a way to get/rent 2 cars somewhere. Let's see which one of us is ALL TALK. I NEVER even been on a road course in my life, but I'm sure I can dust you. I'll bet any money, any time, any place. I'm on record!!!!!!

dude... you're dumb

Saying you're going to hop in an identical car and beat a man of 10 years of racing experience is like saying you're going to hop into a boxing ring with a 10 year pro and KO him... like I said... you're dumb.

I don't think I'm dumb. How about very immature, especially for my age.

Can you go with that?

I'm looking at the odds. I'm really, really a good driver. I've learned that many Z owners(not all) are all talk. 10 years of track driving, may mean JUST driving.

This thread has made my brain asplode.

anywhere I can try road racing/rent car & track time???

Must be a place. Not to prove anything, just always liked road racing but never had the opportunity. Just a few spins around a curvy track.????????????? Anyone?

andre12031948 12-11-2011 03:36 PM

I don't need an answer today. By spring time, I'll find a place.

The one thing I don't really get is that the Z can run a 13.3 in pretty much any magazine and as we all know some high 12's stock.

If one has ART or LTH's, a good CBE, CAI and tune I don't know why we don't see more 12.5's or 12.7 times without using rear gears.

The only thing I can think of is that even with my ART pipes and the F.I. exhaust I can pretty easily spin in 2nd without getting on it real hard.. so I can imagine on a slick track with high temps it wouldn't work... but as said, not everyone posts their times either.

KaienZ34 12-11-2011 05:34 PM

Plus who wants to kill their car just for fun.

If a 370z owner takes out their cats, adds an exhaust, & gets a tune, every young guy with a manual or auto trans. should turn in the 12's. Add 4:08 gears, plus tires & you're in mid 12's. There is a guy in Florida JNAUT :icon18: who has a shop, that would be happy, & very able/experienced to help you do that.

The only people that don't post their time are people who.......you can finish this sentence:)

As far as killing the car. Going through 4 gears, only 12/13 seconds, with an engine cut off, you couldn't kill it no matter how hard you try. Without TT/S/C or Nitro, it's almost impossible to damage the engine. 60 months or 60k miles warrenty. How many keep our cars longer?

"killing a car to have fun" What does that mean???? Laughing to get face wrinkles:) Golfing to pull a muscle:) skiing to break a leg:) sex to get tired:) Get real....
Don't tell anyone, but one road race puts more wear on the drivetrain, suspension, tires & brakes than drag racing ALL year.

KaienZ34 12-11-2011 06:19 PM

any kind of racing is going to be hard on the drivetrain... some i'm sure less than others... but either way it's going to wear it out faster.

If your running a good rear tire, you won't spin second gear. Esp from a second gear roll. This brings up a good subject as to most people on here run garbage tires witch will only net you chitty time at the track. It really irritates me to see such a " drivers car" with junk tires. RE-11's ftw.

Hey, I got the 2nd fastest stock time on all seasons :likeabaws: :icon17:

Than why are you here?

Wait, aren't you the guy that recently started a thread ASKING how to change the rubber part of the windshield wipers?

Can you pump your own gas?:roflpuke2::icon17::p

I live my life more than a quarter mile at a time. I prefer to turn and hit the brakes at speed whenever I could.

I asked that question? I live in NJ PT, I don't need to pump my own gas. What I do know is that I didn't buy an 08 350 when the 370 was available to me. If you are going to troll, at least come ready with a real car that no one is going to make fun of. (at least my rental Prius made it into the top 5 at rallyx out of 25)

Oh I agree that people on here don't spend money on the best tires that would net them better times. I can spin through second, but i'm still on totally stock tires with PLENTY of tread and they're a 140 rated tire, so i'd figure they'd be pretty sticky down the track.

One_Quick_Z 12-12-2011 03:24 AM

I take my car to the track as much as I can, ran 13.3 stock and a 12.9 with just exhaust and test pipes with drop in filters, spinning through 2nd and 40 deg weather out :)

DAN

Stock tires?

I'll be honest... I don't really care that much what MY car can/could run. I like to see the guys who enjoy doing it get good times though. I feel the the car itself has a lot of potential... but in NA form there is just only so much you can do that won't completely break the bank.

If I knew my car would would a 12.5-12.7... I think that's pretty good considering it's an NA 6 up against a whole lot of turbo cars who just have to turn the boost up... although that is fun

One_Quick_Z 12-12-2011 03:39 AM

yes stock tires 13.3 run was with only 3.5k on the od and stock everything,

12.9 run was HKS exhaust Berk TEst Pipes and K&N drop in filters, on a very cool day 40 deg

With all my bolt ons now and if I get a new set of tires in the spring I am thinking 12.6 is very reachable

DAN

Z eliminator 12-12-2011 07:30 AM

I ran 12.80 with the stock tire and the intake and exhaust. I only got one pass in the 12.8's.
To our fellow member who said 12's are slow. Let me tell you there is nothing slow about 12.42's. on all motor. My friend the car is moving at that time. It pulled hard through all 5 gear's and there was no driver mistakes on that pass.
I wish that i live closer to Jnaut. we would have a great 1/4 mile run agaist each other. plus with him working on my car i now that it would be quicker as im running my own Cobb tune on the car and i know that the Uprev tune would give it more power. Im not a tunner , i just keep ajusting the fuel settings.
To the guys who live in high elevations your times are great consdering the conditions you race in. Be proud of your times for if you raced a sea level your cars would be way faster.
My elevation is 650 ft. At sea level i would be in the high 12.2's.
If you put my set up in RCY's car he would be running 11.5's or better with that stillen SC.

Z

KaienZ34 12-12-2011 08:19 AM

No one said 12's were slow, just not much to brag about and rag on others that are not that fast. I only say that because my old street car was an 81 vette with a SC'ed 383 stroker that ran 10's on drag radials full interior and pump gas. Drove it everyday to and from work, and tracked on the weekends for four years.

Methodical4u 12-12-2011 08:34 AM

12's are fine... let's think back with the cars that used to be considered fast. The old fox body mustang... low 14's, I believe the Camaro's were about the same.... I mean these were the cars to have... and we have a V6 that NO one EVER would have though it would be putting out 332 hp unless it was turbo or super charged.

m4a1mustang 12-12-2011 08:36 AM

Yeah it wasn't too long ago when 13s stock from an affordable street car was considered super fast. 12 (and lower) was the big boy's territory back then.

Now we're blending 12/13 from the factory and you aren't isht anymore until you're running 11s!

Red__Zed 12-12-2011 08:39 AM

Times definitely have changed...Maximas and v6 accords break into the 13s stock on the regular.
